Josh McGuire Sweeps Weekend at Rocky Top and Ohio Valley to Net $7,000(GRAYSON, KENTUCKY) The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team racked up wins number four and five on the season over the June 18-19 weekend by sweeping events at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio and the Ohio Valley Speedway near Washington, West Virginia! At Rocky Top on Friday night, the annual 'GCP Engines Showdown' was held and a $4,000 top prize was up for grabs. Josh McGuire won his heat race in preliminary action and later led all forty laps of the main event to score the dominant victory over Tim Dohm, Greggie Oliver, Shannon Thornsberry, and Jason Montgomery.
On Saturday evening in a rare trip to the Ohio Valley Speedway, Josh swept the night's racing activities. After laying down the quickest lap during qualifying and winning his heat race, the Grayson, Kentucky native once again had the car to beat in the 35-lap feature event. When the dust had settled at the Mountaineer State speedplant, Josh found himself celebrating a convincing $3,000 triumph over Ron Mayle, Ed Shuman, Jeff Burdette, and Anthony Huber. “It was an awesome weekend for our team and everything went just as we had hoped when we left the race shop on Friday morning,” exclaimed McGuire this week while working on his C.J. Rayburn racecar. “We qualified well both nights and won our heat races, so that obviously put us in a great position when feature time rolled around. I can’t thank everyone associated with our race team enough for their support and hopefully we can keep this momentum going into Skyline and Portsmouth this weekend!”
Josh and his #41 team are currently eying a pair of Dirt Late Model events this upcoming weekend (June 25-26) in the Buckeye State of Ohio. On Friday night, Josh plans to invade the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio for a $1,500 to win show. The Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio will then close out the weekend for the JMR team on Saturday evening with a $2,000 to win program.
