FASTRAK NORTHEAST LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES HEADS TO ROARING KNOB SATURDAY WITH 5 DIFFERENT WINNERS IN 5 RACES

By Mike Leone
Markleysburg, PA…After a busy two-race weekend this past Saturday and Sunday, the FASTRAK Northeast Late Model Touring Series’ fourth season will continue this Saturday night, June 26 at the scenic Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, Pa. for race #6 of 20 in the 2010 slate.

Saturday’s program will be highlighted by 25-lap feature paying $1,200 to-win. Will there be a sixth different winner in six races? To date there have been five different ones in as many races. Max Blair opened the season topping a record 53-car field at Tyler County. In the next appearance at Tyler County, Mike Blose picked up his career first Touring Series win. Josh Holtgraver was the next at Sharon to collect his first ever Touring Series win. Last Saturday, Robbie Blair became the third straight career first Touring Series win taking the $5,000 prize at McKean. Sunday’s first ever appearance to Central Pennsylvania saw Mike Pegher, Jr. win his season first Touring Series event at Central PA Speedway.

A strong field of cars is expected Saturday. Roaring Knob has yet to get less than 20 cars in any of their eight Weekly Series races to date this season. They’ve averaged more than 23 cars per event with 50 different drivers competing. A total of 92 different drivers have already competed in the five Northeast Touring Series events to date with an average car count of 36 cars.

“The support at Roaring Knob has been awesome,” stated Co-Director Mike Leone. “FASTRAK has really taken off in that area and Roaring Knob gets a nice mix of drivers from Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Maryland. They’ve got a good crop of weekly drivers that really could give our Touring Series stars a fit. Drivers like track point leader Rick Strickler, three-time winner Ricky Meglaye, Troy Shields, John Over, Garry Sisson, Dusty Hamrick, Cody Hardesty, and Mike Lewis could all easily become the sixth different Touring Series winner.”

Thanks to two top seven finishes last weekend, the 20-year-old Blair has extended his point lead to 18 over Series newcomer Holtgraver. Holtgraver has just a one-point lead on Pegher. West Virginia’s Gary Knollinger dropped two spots after failing to qualify for the McKean event, but rebounded with a solid fifth at Central PA for his third top five in the past four events.

There have been 39 Touring Series races contested with an amazing 19 different winners all-time in the Northeast Touring Series meaning nearly a new winner every other event! Max Blair currently sits atop the all-time win list at six followed by Dick Barton, Bobby Powell, John Lacki, and Pegher, Jr. with four, David Scott with three, Alan Dellinger with two, and Todd Andrews, Kyle Drum, Frank Guidace, Butch Lambert, Carl McKinney, Dennis Lunger, Jr., Tom Snyder, Jr., Chris Meadows, Jim Frank, Blose, Holtgraver, and Robbie Blair with one victory.
