Columbus Speedway Begins New Era This Saturday

Columbus, Mississippi (06/22/10) – “The Baddest Bullring in the South” Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi will return to action this Saturday Night, June 26th as the facility begins a new era in its storied history.

Tough times cause tracks and promoters to adapt to survive, and Columbus Speedway is no different. Beginning with the racing program on Saturday, June 26th two of the most respected racing promoters in the business have joined forces as Jeff Greer and Johnny Stokes will be jointly promoting and operating Columbus Speedway for the balance of the 2010 season.

Stokes, who has been a mainstay at promoting Columbus Speedway over the past ten years will be joined by Jeff Greer, who has promoted races for over twenty years now, and in recent years promoted North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) and Moulton Speedway (Moulton, Alabama). Greer specializes in advertising and promoting, while Stokes specializes in track preparation and event management. The duo looks to bring Columbus Speedway back to the forefront of weekly racing programs in the South.

The Baddest Bullring in the South returns to action this Saturday, June 26th featuring the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Models, NeSmith Late Model, Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, and Mini Stocks.

To promote the beginning of the new era, Columbus Speedway is guaranteeing at least $1,000 to win/$100 to start for the Commercial Dispatch Super Late Model division and at least $500 to win/$50 to start for the NeSmith Weekly Crate Late Models on this Saturday’s program.

The pit gate opens at 3pm with the grandstand gates opening at 5pm.

The driver’s meeting is slated for 7pm with racing action at 8pm. Grandstand admission for adults is $10.00, active military $5.00, students ages 11-18, and seniors $8.00, and Kids 10 and under Free. Pit admission is $25.00.

For more information call Johnny Stokes at 662-574-2572 or the Track at 662-241-5004 or visit the track’s official internet home at www.ColumbusSpeedway.net .
