Southern Nationals Series Moves Rome Speedway Date to Sunday, July 18(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) In a joint decision made recently by officials from both the Southern Nationals Series and the Rome Speedway, it has been decided to move the series date at the legendary Rome, Georgia facility. Instead of hosting the popular Southern Nationals Series on Monday, July 19, Rome will now open their gates for the series on Sunday, July 18. The sixth stop on the 2010 Southern Nationals Series tour will now pay $5,300 to win instead of the previously announced $3,500 payday.
"We prefer not to race on Sunday, but track owner Mickey Swims really wanted to move the date up a day," stated series promoter Ray Cook. "The bad part of it is, the guys that follow the series will now have to run four nights in a row, but at least three of those races will now pay $5,300 to win. Hopefully, the date change will work out for everyone and who knows, maybe an extra bigger purse will entice some drivers to follow the entire deal."
Ray Cook's Southern Nationals Series kicks off in less than a month on Monday night, July 12 at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia! The popular Southeastern Dirt Late Model mini-series will once again sanction ten events in a matter of only thirteen days in the states of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. The ultra-competitive tour now has five events on the schedule that will pay $5,300 to win and five shows that will pay $3,500 to the winner. Shown below is the final version of the 2010 Southern Nationals Series schedule:
