NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 14 CARTERSVILLE, GA – Justin McCree of Cuba, AL was the big winner in Week 11 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, as he drove the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star to two wins during the weekend. “J-Mac” posted wins on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL and on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.
The two wins moved McRee up to the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 437 points based on five wins and six top five finishes in seven starts.
Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS still leads the West Region point standings despite a bad weekend, as he did not start the main on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, and finished 15th on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in the Boland Performance Trak-Star.
Keeton has 590 points after three wins, nine top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 13 races to hold a 41-point lead over Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS driving the Lawson Construction Rocket.
Lawson is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region standings with 549 points after a pair of top ten finishes at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park and Whynot Motorsports Park. Lawson has two top fives, and 11 top tens in 13 starts.
Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS had a good weekend of NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region action with his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and a third-place showing on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt.
Stokes is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 542 points after five wins and nine top fives in nine starts. Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS is fourth with 476 points based on seven top five and eight top tens in nine starts driving the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt.
Cliff Williams of Star, MS is sixth in the West Region standings with 410 points after two wins and six top fives in eight starts driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star. Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is seventh with 399 points after driving the Michau Logging Warrior to two top fives, and six top tens in eight starts.
Chad McCool of Millport, AL is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 398 points based on one top five and four top tens in eight starts in the M&M Logging Mastersbilt. Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS is ninth with 382 points after five top fives and six top tens in six starts driving the Burchfield’s Body Shop Mastersbilt.
Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the Medicaid Planning Specialists Trak-Star to his second West Region win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Palasini rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 379 points after two wins and six top fives in seven starts.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action over the weekend, Tyler Stevens of Searcy, AR was the winner on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Stevens drove the Searcy Auto Salvage Rocket to his second win of the season.
Brooks Strength of Jackson, MS took his third win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park driving the Duncan Motorsports Rocket. Mark Tice of Avon, MS drove the Precision Marine Trak-Star to his second win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA did not report their Week 11 results.
Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL continues to lead the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 691 points after posting three wins, 13 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 15 starts driving the Edge’s Gas Mastersbilt. Edge has one more race in which he can earn full points. After 16 races, Edge will begin to net points by dropping his lowest point night this season with a higher point night.
Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL is second in the NeSmith Chevrolet East Region standings with 551 points. Stephens has a series-leading six wins, nine top fives, and 11 top tens in 12 starts driving the Bennett Logging RMRC. Craig Scott of Newman, GA is third with 440 points after two wins, six top fives, and nine top tens in the Base Fuel GRT.
Larry Harrod of Plains, GA is fourth in the East Region standings with 431 points after driving the Harrod Logging Scorpion to one win and six top fives in six starts. Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL is fifth with 430 points based on three wins and nine top fives in nine starts in the United Bank GRT.
Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 416 points after one win, seven top fives, and nine top tens in ten starts driving the Charco, Inc. TNT.
Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA drove the Darda Tire GRT to his third win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA. Darda is seventh in the East Region standings with 413 points based on three wins and nine top fives in nine starts. Parrish Duncan of Newnan, GA is eighth with 405 points after six top fives and nine top tens in nine starts.
Ryan King of Anniston, AL is ninth in the East Region standings with 400 points after driving the True Bond Masonry TSR to three top fives and seven top tens in nine starts. Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL rounds out the top ten of the East Region standings with 398 points based on six top fives and nine top tens in nine starts driving the Wallace Paint and Body Wallace.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region competition on Saturday night, Adam Cummings topped a 25-car field at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Clint Smith was the winner at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL.
Hunter Best of Louisville, TN took his second straight win of the season at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN driving the Warrior Race Cars Warrior. Terrance Nowell of Phenix City, AL took his first win of the season at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Clarence’s Truck Repair GRT.
East Alabama Motor Speedway will open the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 East Region competition on Tuesday night. William Thomas of Phenix City, AL was the winner last Tuesday night in the J.W. Miller Land and Timber Scorpion.
The two wins by McRee, and wins from Tice, and Palasini brings Trak-Star Race Cars’ series leading win total to 28 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge. Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL is the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion.
Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR picked up a pair of wins in Week 11 from Darda and Nowell to remain in the second spot in the chassis points with a season total of 21.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV scored wins over the weekend from Stevens and Strength to bring their third-place season total to 16 wins. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is fourth with three wins, and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth after Best gave them their second win of the season.
