For Immediate Release

The stars of the Carolina Clash return to Wythe Raceway this Saturday, June 12

By: Alex Cummings
Wingate, NC. June 8, 2010. The stars of the Carolina Clash SLM Series will make their return to the always fast, ˝ mile Wythe Raceway. Last season saw an average car count of 26 cars at the super fast, high banked ˝ mile. This will be the first race of the season for the Carolina Clash at Wythe Raceway for 2010.

Last season saw Dennis “Rambo” Franklin win two poles at the fast ˝ mile and Petey Ivey grabbed the midsummer pole in August. The first race of 2009 was won by Jeff Smith in very convincing fashion. The second race of the season saw Petey Ivey making a sweep of fastest qualifier and winning the feature event. The third and final race of the season saw Dennis Franklin also making a sweep of fast time and winning the feature event.

So far this season, the Carolina Clash has seen numerous changes atop the point standings like a NASCAR race at Talladega Super Speedway. The top three contenders in the 2010 Carolina Clash point standings are separated by just 5 points. Dennis Franklin is showing the way with Chris “Fergy” Ferguson trailing in a close second by just 3 points. Third in the standings is Ricky Weeks who trails Dennis Franklin by just 5 points. Fourth is Rookie of the Year contender Dean Bowen and rounding out your top five is the defending Carolina Clash Series Champion, Jeff Smith who trails Dennis Franklin by 115 points. With the top 5 in such a close battle for the points lead, it’s anyone’s race to the cup. Who can pull away this weekend after Wythe? Or will the points become even closer? If last weekend at Fayetteville was any indicator of how this Saturday’s race will be, then you can expect to see the unexpected.

Be there to catch all the hot racing action when the pit gates open at 3pm, grandstands open at 4pm, and the Carolina Clash Drivers meeting will be taking place at 6:15pm sharp. Along with the Carolina Clash, the FASTRAK Late Models, R & C Super Streets, Modifieds, Pro Mini & UCARS will also be in action at Wythe Raceway.

Along with the cash, the Carolina Clash has also acquired a few new sponsors since the first race of the year. This season, Comp Cams will be the feature sponsor, awarding the feature winner a $100 gift certificate. Also on board for 2010 is Safety Kleen who will be awarding the Safety Kleen Hard Charger of the Race Award which will be a prize pack consisting of various products from Safety Kleen. R2C Performance was also signed last week and they will now be the official heat race sponsor, awarding each hear race winner with a gift certificate towards a purchase at R2C Performance. Lincoln Electric is also onboard with the Carolina Clash this season and will be giving all Carolina Clash drivers a tremendous discount on all of their products.

The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series would like to thank the following sponsors: American Race Tires, Heintz Brothers Performance, Dirt Trax Motorsports, Starrette Trucking, TRT Trailer Sales, Performance Tee’s, Dunn-Benson Ford, Dunn-Benson Racing Supply, Dirt Wrap, Mike’s Custom Tanks, Sisco Fire & Safety, NASCAR Technical Institute, Victory Lane Karting, VP Racing Fuels, Comp Cams, Lincoln Electric, Safety Kleen, R2C Performance Products, Cool Shirts, and Firethorn Marketing.
