NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 8

CARTERSVILLE, GA – NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 10 competition saw several drivers in the top ten of the Regional point standings do well, and some not so well. Mother Nature’s grip on weekend racing also made a stand on Friday night action, but the racing prevailed for the most part on Saturday night.

Wesley Greene of Winona, MS kept his winning streak alive by taking his fourth straight win on Friday night at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS. Greene has yet to be defeated in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region competition at CMS driving the Transport Service Center Trak-Star.

Three-time and defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Toomsuba, MS finished second on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the Boland Performance Trak-Star, and continues to lead the West Region standings. Keeton has 524 points with three wins, nine top five finishes, and 11 top ten finishes in 11 starts.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS continues to quietly move up the West Region points list, and drove his Lawson Construction Rocket to a fourth-place finish on Friday night at Central Mississippi Speedway and a ninth-place effort on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park to move up to the second spot in the standings with 459 points after two top fives and nine top tens in 11 starts.

Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS picked up his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the TJC Mortgage/Maximum Signs and Graphics Mastersbilt. Stokes trails Lawson by 15 points, and is third in the West Region standings with 444 points. Stokes has four wins, and seven top fives in seven starts.

Shay Knight of Ethelsville, MS holds down the fourth spot in the West Region standings with 430 points based on six top fives and seven top tens in eight starts driving the Dunn’s Autos Mastersbilt. Cliff Williams of Star, MS is fifth with 385 points after driving the Ware Construction Trak-Star to two wins, and six top fives in seven starts.

Chad McCool of Millport, AL is sixth in the West Region standings with 355 points based on one top five and three top tens in seven starts driving the M&M Logging Mastersbilt. Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS is seventh with 353 points after seven starts in the Michau Logging Warrior with one top five and five top tens.

Justin McRee of Cuba, AL is in the eighth spot of the West Region standings with 337 points based on three wins and four top fives in five starts in the Century Dedicated, Inc. Trak-Star. Jay Burchfield of Columbus, MS has the Burchfield’s Body Shop Mastersbilt in the ninth spot with 334 points after turning in four top fives and five top tens in five starts.

Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the Medicaid Planning Specialist Trak-Star to his first win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, and move up to the tenth spot of the West Region standings with 329 points. Palasini has one win and five top fives in six starts.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region action, Richie Tosh of Salado, AR drove the Mark Martin Chevrolet Rocket to his first win of the season on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, AR. Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS picked up his second win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park driving the Bo Haarala Autoplex GRT.

NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region Friday night events at Hattiesburg Motorsports Park in Hattiesburg, MS, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS, and North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL were rained out. A1 Raceway in Slidell, MS rained out its West Region event on Saturday night.

The top two drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region had off nights in Week 10 competition.

NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region point leader Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL had his first Did Not Finish of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL when the driveshaft on his Edge’s Gas Mastersbilt broke on the second lap of the feature race. That broke Edge’s streak of consecutive top five finishes.

The second-place driver in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings, Richie Stephens of Phenix City, AL had an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway driving the Bennett Logging RMRC to end his EAMS winning streak at five. Stephens only gained two points on Edge in the championship battle.
Edge has 602 points to lead the East Region standings with three wins, and a series-leading 12 top five finishes in 13 starts. Stephens has 462 points in the second spot in the East Region standings based on a series-leading six wins, eight top fives, and nine top tens in 10 starts.

Craig Scott of Newnan, GA took his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region win of the season on Saturday night at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA driving the Base Fuels GRT, and move up to the third spot in the East Region standings. Scott has 391 points with two wins, five top fives, and eight top tens in 10 starts.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL finished second on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the United Bank GRT, and is fourth in the East Region standings with 380 points based on three wins, and eight top fives in eight starts.

Dana Eiland of Salem, AL did not start the feature race Saturday night at EAMS in the Andy’s Auto Parts GRT and dropped to the fifth spot in the East Region standings with 376 points after seven top fives in nine races.

Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL is sixth with 367 points based on one win, six top fives and eight top tens in eight starts driving the Charco, Inc. TNT. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA has the Darda Tire GRT in the seventh spot in the East Region standings with 363 points after two wins and eight top fives in eight starts.

Ryan King of Anniston, AL is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS East Region standings with 359 points in the True Bond Masonry TSR based on three top fives and seven top tens in eight starts. Parrish Duncan of Newnan, GA is ninth with 357 points after five top fives and eight top tens in eight starts.

Chris Griffin of Flomaton, AL rounds out the top ten in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region standings with 354 points after six top fives and eight top tens in eight starts driving the Wallace Paint and Body WRC.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Week 10 action, Larry Harrod of Plains, GA drove the Harrod Logging Scorpion to his first win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway. Chris Smith of Brewton, AL was a first-time winner on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in the Smith Racing GRT.

Hunter Best of Louisville, TN picked up his first win of the season on Saturday night at Mountain Raceway Park in Maryville, TN driving the Warrior Race Cars Warrior. East Region events on Friday night at Penton Raceway in Penton, AL and on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL were rained out.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 11 competition begins tonight at East Alabama Motor Speedway, as they begin their seven-week Tuesday Night Thunder Program, in addition to their regularly scheduled Saturday night events.

Defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the 2010 points chase with wins by Greene and Palasini bringing Trak-Star’s win total to 24 on the season.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR used Week 10 wins by Murphy, Smith, and Scott to close to within five points of Trak-Star. GRT Race Cars is in the second spot of the Chassis points with 19 wins in the first 10 weeks of the season.

Tosh gave Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV their 14th NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season and the third spot in the Chassis Manufacturers standings. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN has three wins to hold the fourth spot, and Best put Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN on the board with their first win of the season.
