GRT Race Cars Teams Up with Tony Kanaan for Upcoming Prelude to the Dream!
(GREENBRIER, ARKANSAS) The GRT House Car program, headed by renowned chassis builder Joe Garrison, has recently teamed up with 2004 IndyCar Series Champion Tony Kanaan for the upcoming Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream! Tony will pilot one of Joe's GRT racecars, normally driven by Jack Sullivan, with sponsorship coming from 7-Eleven and Slurpee. The IndyCar veteran is known for his fearlessness, which is good for a driver with no dirt experience.
"Everyone here at GRT Race Cars is excited about the opportunity to work with a driver of Tony Kanaan's ability," commented Garrison this afternoon while wrenching on Kanaan's #11 machine. "This deal came together over the weekend, so we didn't have enough time to get Tony to a track and test, so it should be interesting Wednesday night at Eldora. Other drivers in the Prelude to the Dream have succeeded in their first time behind the wheel of a Dirt Late Model and I expect that Tony will pick things up pretty quickly."
In addition to Tony Kanaan driving one of Joe's personal racecars, the staff at GRT recently prepared a new car for Terry Phillips Racing that Kenny Wallace will steer around the high-banks of the Eldora Speedway this Wednesday. Kenny, who was the 2005 Prelude to the Dream winner, grew up on dirt and regularly drives a Dirt Late Model and Open Wheel Modified on dirt tracks across the country.
The Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream will take place on Wednesday night, June 9 at the legendary Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. In addition to the standing-room-only crowd, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Prelude to the Dream will be presented live to the entire nation on HBO Pay-Per-View® with net proceeds from the telecast supporting four of the nation's top children's hospitals:
