Billy Moyer Dominates Fed-Ex 50 to Claim Eighth Win of 2010!
(BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) Billy Moyer and his famed #21 Dirt Late Model team recorded their eighth victory of the 2010 racing season on Sunday, May 30 at the Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois! The annual running of the 'Fed-Ex 50' took place on Sunday at the St. Louis area venue and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Billy won his heat race and later captured the win in the dash to earn the pole position for the 50-lap main event. The Batesville, Arkansas native grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 'Fed-Ex 50' and led all 50 circuits en route to the convincing triumph over Shannon Babb, Billy Moyer, Jr., Jason Feger, and Brad Neat.
Earlier in the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team was in action in the 18th Annual 'Show-Me 100' at the pristine Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Billy qualified well on Friday night and later won his competitive heat race to earn the sixth starting spot in the $30,000 to win A-Main on Saturday. It was not Billy's night unfortunately in the 100-lapper, as he encountered problems and wound up twenty-third in the final rundown of this year's 'Show-Me 100.' "It was good to rebound from a disappointing Show-Me 100 by winning the next night at Granite City," quoted Moyer following the ultra-busy weekend. "We made some changes to the car prior to the feature at Wheatland and I knew better than to go in that direction. Then at Granite City, we made the right decisions all night and the car was fantastic. I can't thank my crew, my family, and all of my great sponsors enough for their support and hopefully we can get on a little roll heading into the Dream and Summer Nationals."
The BMR team is scheduled to enter a pair of Northern Allstars Late Model Series (NALMS) shows this upcoming weekend in Kentucky and Missouri. On Friday night, June 4, the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky will play host to a $5,000 to win event, while the I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri will do the same on Saturday evening, June 5. In other news, Denny Hamlin will once again pilot a Billy Moyer-prepared entry in the upcoming Gillette Fusion Prelude to the Dream at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio! The ultra-popular charity race will take place on Wednesday, June 9 at the hallowed 1/2-mile, high-banked oval and will once again be broadcast live on HBO Pay-Per-View. The telecast is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. EST and is scheduled to be four hours in length.
