Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Speeds into June with Events at Tazewell and Florence this WeekendCORONA, CA (June 2, 2010) - After a hugely successful DART Show-Me 100 at Lucas Oil (MO) Speedway this past Memorial Day Weekend, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series kicks off the month of June this Friday Night at Tazewell Speedway in Tazewell, TN for the Toyota Knoxville 75 and Saturday Night at Florence Speedway in Union, KY for the 24th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial Race. Both events will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will visit the track simply known as "The Taz" this Friday Night, June 4 for the sixth time. The Gary Hall promoted facility will host a complete show of LOLMDS action with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 75-lap $10,000 to win Toyota Knoxville sponsored event. In the previous five visits to Tazewell, Lucas Oil Series regular Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN has won in three of the five series sanctioned races there. Other series winners at Tazewell were Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN in '06 and Joe Armes of Petros, TN in '08. On Saturday Night, June 5th, Florence Speedway will host the Ralph Latham Memorial for the 24th time. The last five Ralph Latham Memorial races have been won by Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series regulars with Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN winning in '05, Scott Bloomquist in '06, Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN in '07, and the last two years have seen Jimmy Owens in victory lane, hoisting the big check.
The King Family promoted facility will play host to a full program of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series racing with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 24th Annual Ralph Latham Memorial 50-lap feature paying $10,000 to win. The cameras of SPEED TV will be on hand to tape the event, which will be shown on June 26. The points' battle for the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship enters a new month, as defending series champion Scott Bloomquist leads Jimmy Owens in the race for the title worth $75,000 again this year. Four-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL is third in points followed by DART Show-Me 100 runner-up, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; and 2010 DART Show-Me 100 champion, Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC who collected $30,000 this past weekend for winning his second career Show-Me 100 trophy.
The remainder of the top ten headed to Tazewell and Florence in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings are Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; Chris Wall of Holden, LA; Steve Casebolt; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, IL.
Wall's lead in the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" points chase has narrowed to just 100 points over DART Show-Me 100 Hard Charger of the Race, Eric Wells of Hazard, KY; followed by Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI.
The tire rule at Tazewell will be the following; American Racer SD44 or any compound harder, SD44 must punch a minimum of 40. Hoosier 1300 or any compound harder, 1300 must punch a minimum of 40.
At Florence the tire rule will be as follows; Hoosier 1300, 1350, 1600, LM 20 and LM40 and American Racer SD44, SD48, MD53 and MD56.
