Former Champion Jason Bodenhamer Claims Second-Consecutive ULMA Feature Win!

In 2008, Jason Bodenhamer dominated ULMA action with nine victories and the association championship; after last weekend, the Centerview, MO driver looks to be on the same path as he claimed his second win of the young season by driving to victory lane for the second time at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS).  Just two tracks ran their normal race programs last weekend with CMS and Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO in action.  Lucas Oil Speedway and Missouri State Fair Speedway did not host ULMA racing last week.

At CMS, nineteen drivers registered to compete with fourteen member drivers in attendance.  Three heat races under the passing-points system determined the feature race starting grid as Bodenhamer immediately shot out to an early race lead.  Early on, second in point standings driver, Jon Binning, and Bob Test got together with Test re-starting at the tail end of the field.  Once the race resumed, Bodenhamer used his late model prowess to build a solid lead over the rest of the field.  Binning ran strong inside the top five along with Shawn Rayfield, who traveled all the way over from O’Fallon, MO.  A few late-race cautions, including a grinding crash involving Kevin Coyne, who was uninjured, slowed an otherwise competitive race that featured many battles for position throughout the field.  Bodenhamer held firm up front for the win with Binning posting another solid top-three finish.  The run of the night however, belonged to Bob Test, who came from nineteenth on the field to finish in fourth position.  Other strong runs by ULMA members included Rayfield in fifth.  Brian Pipes of Lone Jack, MO recorded his best-ever finish in ULMA action with a convincing run to seventh place.  R.D. Peterson made his long-distance drive all the way from Springfield, MO pay off with an eighth-place run followed by Rookie Bryan Montgomery in his first appearance this year in ninth and Dustin Walker tenth.

Over at Callaway Raceway, there were also nineteen drivers on hand for the action with nine of the drivers being ULMA members.  Six member drivers claimed the fourth through ninth positions with Jeff Schlup of California, MO posting the strongest ULMA finish in fourth.  Current point leader Bob Test was fifth, followed by Jon Binning, Trace Westling, and Chris Cox.  ULMA action returns this Friday night at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO, June 4.  Missouri State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, MO will also return to racing this Friday night after taking a weekend off for the holiday.  Saturday-night racing will take place at Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg.  Lucas Oil Speedway will not be running this weekend after their special event last weekend.  Check out all the ULMA affiliated tracks and racing schedules by logging onto the following web sites:  www.callawayraceways.com, www.missouristatefairspeedway.com, www.centralmissourispeedway.net and www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

ULMA contingencies were claimed last week at CMS by Jon Binning and Joe Bartlett.  At Callaway, Jeff Schlup and Robbie Wright took the contingencies.  Contingencies are awarded at each affiliated track based on a blind draw from the feature event races.  Bryan Montgomery claimed the track-sponsored ULMA member drawing at CMS.  Contingencies will be mailed or presented to drivers at future ULMA-sanctioned events.  ULMA membership is available on site at each affiliated track for just $50; simply ask for the track ULMA representative.  Fans, friends, and family members may become ULMA affiliate members for just $10.  Membership is available via the Website or on-site at ULMA tracks.  Make checks payable to:  United Late Model Association and Mail:  ULMA, P.O.
