NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR JUNE 1

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Rain washed out all but one of the eight Week 9 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series events scheduled during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Lamar Furr of Hollandale, MS topped a 25-car West Region field on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS to post his first win of the season in the L&L Flying GRT.

The Sunday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region event scheduled for Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS was rained out, and the race at A1 Raceway in Slidell, LA was cancelled due to track equipment problems. The West Region race scheduled for Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS was cancelled on Thursday.

The entire NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series East Region Week 9 schedule was rained out at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL on Saturday and Monday nights. Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was rained out on Saturday night, as was New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA on Sunday night.

Two drivers that competed at Greenville Speedway in Saturday night made moves within the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings.

Tony Lawson of Laurel, MS used a top ten finish in the Lawson Construction Rocket to move up to the fourth spot in the West Region standings. Lawson now has 370 points with one top five finish and seven top ten finishes in nine starts.

Jason Michau of Kilmichael, MS also had a top ten finish in the Michau Logging Warrior to move up to the eighth spot in the West Region standings with 309 points after one top five and four top tens in six starts.

In late reporting Week 8 results from the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region, Wesley Green of Winona, MS drove the Transport Service Center Trak-Star to his third straight win on May 21 at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, MS. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS picked up his first win of the season on May 22 at A1 Raceway driving the Billy Riels Racing GRT.
