The Clash South is set to invade Harris Speedway

By: Alex Cummings
Wingate, NC. May 24, 2010. The stars Clash South Tour are gearing up to invade Harris Speedway on Monday, May 31. The track Promoter, Scott Childress said “I’m very excited to get the Clash South Super Late Models at the Harris Speedway. The super late models always put on a fantastic show at Harris”. Harris is a fast 3/8 mile track that hasn’t seen a super late model race in a few years now. The May 31st race will pay $3,500 to the lucky winner and $300 to start.

The last time the Super Late Models made an appearance at Harris was back on September 1, 2007 when fans got to witness Travis Pennington setting fast time and Ricky Weeks capturing the win. Weeks lives just 3 short miles from Harris Speedway and is considered the hometown favorite to defend his crown at Harris on May 31st.

So far this season, the Clash South has seen had just one race which was at Lancaster Motor Speedway in Lancaster, SC. Prevailing when the dust settled was the 18m of Jeff Smith bringing home the win in the first ever Clash South event. The May 31st event set for Harris Speedway will be the second race of the season and drivers from all over will showing up to tackle the smooth and fast 3/8 mile.

Also to keep an eye on are the drivers vying for the $10,000 bonus if a driver can win both the Clash South and Carolina Clash Championship making it a whopping $26,000 to win both. That is the richest purse in regional racing in the country and with money like that available, it’s no telling who will show up and try to take home the cash.

Along with the cash, the Clash South Tour has also acquired a few new sponsors since the first race of the year. This season, Comp Cams will be the feature sponsor, awarding the feature winner a $100 gift certificate. Also on board for 2010 is Safety Kleen who will be awarding the Safety Kleen Hard Charger of the Race Award which will be a prize pack consisting of various products from Safety Kleen. R2C Performance was also signed last week and they will now be the official heat race sponsor, awarding each hear race winner with a gift certificate towards a purchase at R2C Performance. Lincoln Electric is also onboard with the Clash South Tour this season and will be giving all Clash South Tour drivers a tremendous discount on all of their products.

Please make plans to join us on Monday, May 31st for the return of the Clash South at Harris Speedway in Harris, NC. You will not be disappointed with the awesome racing that Harris Speedway and the Clash South Tour will put on. Harris Speedway will also be running stock 4’s, Super Stock 4’s, Renegade, and Pure Stock.
