Bub McCool Endures Gut-Wrenching Weekend on East CoastVicksburg, MS (05/19/10) – For the past month Bub McCool has had some incredible race cars with incredible potential, but bad luck has struck on several occasions, preventing him from having quality results to show for his efforts. Last weekend would prove to be no different as McCool endured a pair of gut-wrenching nights in his #57J McCool Logging/Trakstar/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Bub was in action on Saturday night, May 15th with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series for the first time ever at Wythe Raceway in Wythe Virginia. Forty-four Super Late Models entered the event, and Bub's night got off to a great start as he charged from the 5th starting spot in his heat race to take the win, which earned him the pole position for the $10,000 to win feature. The team was extremely excited about their chances for getting their first tour win, but disaster would strike on the seventh lap, while he was running second, as he had a water pump gasket blow, which brought his night to an early end.
McCool Motorsports entered the O'Reilly All Stars event at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Shinnston, West Virginia on Sunday night. With 36 Super Late Models on hand, Bub qualified 13th fastest and was running third in the heat race, when he hit debris from another car, causing him to stop. As a result of his heat race misfortune, he was relegated to a b-main event, where he would claim a third place finish to qualify for the feature event. However, rains would set in before the feature could be run, forcing the cancellation of the program.
This weekend, McCool will return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series in a doubleheader, which will see him enter a pair of $10,000 to win events in the Midwest. On Friday, May 21st, the team will be in action at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa before moving on to Lasalle Speedway in Lasalle, Illinois on Saturday, May 22nd.
