Casebolt Racing Scores 4th Place Finish at Wythe RacewayRICHMOND, IN (May 10, 2010) - After a hard night of racing in the state of Virginia Steve Casebolt and team scored a 4th place finish after starting 15th and passing 11 competitors.
The team, unfortunately, didn't qualify very well and was relegated to a 6th place starting spot in the heat race.
"We struggled a little bit in qualifying for whatever reason and kind of dug ourselves a hole I wasn't sure we could get out of", said Steve. "We hot lapped very well and seemed like we were going to start on the front row of one of the heats but qualifying hurt us a little bit".
After starting 6th in the 2nd heat Steve passed 2 cars which transferred the team to the main event. "We were happy not to have had to run a B-main after starting so far back but we would have liked to have started better than 15th in the feature."
At the drop of the green flag in the feature Steve immediately started his march forward. Steve passed several competitors that are in the Lucas Oil points battle. At the end of the race Steve found himself behind Lucas Oil regulars Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson and Dale McDowell. Steve and Scott Bloomquist rounded out the top 5.
"Overall it was a very good trip to Virginia and Wythe Raceway turned out to be an extremely nice track to race on so we are looking forward to going back. We moved from 8th in points to 7th so we are headed in the right direction".
Casebolt Racing will take the Preferred Sandblasting, Dixie Chopper Lawnmowers sponsored machine to Iowa and Illinois this weekend for a pair of Lucas Oil events. The first stop will be at 34 Raceway in Burlington, Iowa then the team will cap the weekend with an event at LaSalle Speedway in Illinois.
