FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 12, 2010
Stile and Laraway, of Laraway Motorsports, have a roller coaster weekend of racing
Sammy Stile and Dane Laraway, of Laraway Motorsports, started the roller coaster weekend of racing on the down side on May 3, 2010 at Dog Hollow Speedway, in Strongstown, PA. Because Sammy won the previous week, he had to start the feature event from the twelfth position. Dane, returning back to the seat after missing last week of racing, started the feature event thirteenth due to starting ninth in the heat and only advanced to the fifth spot. The starting positions were not the problem; both cars ran very well and started the march to the front of the field. Dane made it to the sixth position when he was hit on the right side of the car, causing him to spin down into the infield. This put Dane at the tail of the field with eight laps remaining. Sammy was in the process of passing for third position with five laps to go when he was hit in the right front, causing him to spin into the infield as well. The cars suffered minor damage, but due to the number of laps remaining, Sammy and Dane were only able to advance back to the eleventh and twelfth spots, respectively, in the nineteen car field.
Saturday did not seem to start off much better, with Marion Center Speedway canceling early in the day due to high winds and occasional rain showers. The team decided to head to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex, in Markleysburg, PA. The high winds and rain showers continued throughout the entire two and a half hour trip to the facility. While traveling to Markleysburg, the promoter assured us over the phone that he was going to run the race. The track crew did a good job preparing the rain soaked track in order to run the heat races. Starting second, Sammy Stile took the lead of his heat on lap one and never looked back. Fifth place starting Dane Laraway advanced to a third place finish which put both cars in the top twelve redraw. Sammy Stile was scheduled to start the feature event from the third spot and Dane was scheduled to start the feature event from the seventh spot. Prior to the start of the features, the skies opened up and the rain came down again. The skies poured for over two hours, but when the rain finally subsided the track crew was able to prepare the track for the feature events. Sammy captured the lead on lap eight and continued as the leader for the remaining 17 laps. This was Sammy’s second win in the 2010 racing season. Sammy’s record this season is two wins, two second place finishes, and an eleventh place finish after five events. Dane started the feature in seventh position and finished the race eighth. Dane’s record thus far is a fourth place finish, an eighth place finish, and a twelfth place finish after three events.
This week Laraway Motorsports will return to Dog Hollow Speedway and Marion Center Speedway to continue their pursuit of the Coal Country Championship points title.
