Holley Performance gives awards in five IMCA divisions

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (April 29) – A familiar name in the high performance industry returns this season as a contingency award sponsor for five IMCA divisions.

Holley Performance will give post-season prizes to IMCA Modified, IMCA Late Model, IMCA Sunoco Stock Car, Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMod and Southwest Racing Specialties Southern SportMod drivers competing with carburetors manufactured by the Bowling Green, Ky., company.

SportMod awards had been added in 2008, Holley’s most recent year as an IMCA sponsor.

“We believe IMCA is a sanctioning body for the upper end of the grassroots racer. Those are the drivers who support us by buying our products,” said Bill Tichenor, director of marketing for Holley. “We had to pull back a lot of our mar­keting in 2009 because of the economy.”

“Like a lot of companies, we were unsure of what 2009 would be like. We actually did better in 2009 than we thought we would,” he continued, “and decided that we needed to get back into programs like the one we have this year with IMCA.”

Top eligible drivers in each of the five Modified regions receive 750 cfm HP carburetors. Cash or product certificates for $350, $250, $100 and $100 go to the next four drivers. Top eligible drivers in point standings for each Sport­Mod class get 500 cfm car­buretors, with $175 for second, $125 for third and $50 for fourth and fifth.

Holley will give each of the top three eligible drivers in the two Stock Car regions a 350 cfm carburetor. Fourth and fifth place drivers each get $100, while sixth through 10th earn $50 each.

Both the national Late Model rookie of the year and the Deery Brothers Summer Series rookie of the year earn 4150 series carburetors.

Stock Car drivers are required to display two Holley decals on their race cars; Modified and SportMod drivers must complete and return a sign-up form to the IMCA home office by Aug. 1.

“We have something for drivers in every division now and we’ve got new products coming out later this year,” Tiche­nor said. “We have a new CEO who is an actual car guy and that’s important. There’s a new passion in this company for racing and hot rodding and our focus is strictly on high performance products.”
