“IN THE SPOTLIGHT” COLLECTIBLE HERO CARD PROGRAM TO BEGIN SATURDAY AT MERCER PRESENTED BY SHAFFER’S AUTO SERVICE & TOWING

By Mike Leone
(Mercer, PA)…Mercer Raceway Park’s popular “In the Spotlight” hero autograph card program presented by new marketing partner Shaffer’s Auto Service & Towing of New Castle, Pa. will return to The Park this Saturday night, May 1.

This exciting new concept began last year and will take place in The Park’s midway between 5:30 and 6:30 p.m. each and every Saturday night through September 11. Each night, the first 300 fans will receive a beautiful full color front and back collectible autograph card that features four of The Park’s racers on the front and The Park’s 2010 schedule on the back.

These four drivers and their cars will be available for a special one-hour meet and greet camera and autograph session. By the end of summer, kids can collect all 16 “In the Spotlight” hero cards just like kids have done throughout the years with baseball cards.

“This program has proved to be a great way for our fans and racers to interact,” explained marketing director Vicki Emig. “We have felt it’s important for young race fans to have an opportunity to get an up close and personal look at the race cars and a chance to meet their heroes early in the evening. As the night progresses, the kids now have a personal connection to some of the drivers on the track, and a keepsake in the hero card that they can take home and remember their night by.”

This week’s four featured racers include Dustin Martin, who won the last Modified feature- his career first, 2007 Mini Stock Champion and up coming FASTRAK Late Model driver Mike Anderson, Jr., former Stock Car racer and now FASTRAK Late Model driver of Casey Smith’s #717 Leigh Wheeler, and rookie Mini Stock driver Zack Hawk, who is currently fourth in points.

Not only will fans receive this keepsake autograph card, but each card will feature detachable coupons from presenting sponsor Shaffer’s Auto Service & Towing that includes $10 off on service of $50 or more, Pa. state inspection and tire rotation for $14.99, oil, lube and filter for $19.99, and $20 off exhaust system repair. Shaffer’s Auto is Quality Auto Repairs You and Your Family Can Trust at located at 422 Taylor St. in New Castle, PA. For more info call 724-654-1088. Call 1-800-4-Towing for local inexpensive towing.

“I really want to thank Shaffer’s Auto Service & Towing for getting involved as an important marketing partner of The Park,” stated prospective new owner Bill Altman. “Randy Shaffer has been a longtime supporter of The Park with his son Bryan that formerly competed in the Stock Car division and now with his son Brad in the Mini Stocks. They’ve also participated in many of our Enduros and with their help allows us to have these great looking autograph cards for the fans.”
