Bub McCool Has Strong Run At Commonwealth 100; Returns To Lucas Action

Vicksburg, MS (04/20/10) – Even though his final finishing position didn’t tell the whole story, Bub McCool enjoyed a strong run over the weekend in his #57J McCool Logging/Trakstar/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model in the Commonwealth 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway.

After spending a few weeks away from the track, Bub traveled to Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia for the $25,000 to win/$2,000 to start, Commonwealth 100, which was sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Super Late Models. McCool started the weekend in strong fashion by recording the 9th fastest lap in time trials among the stout field of 56 entries. Via his qualifying effort, Bub started second in his heat race and battled leader, Tim McCreadie for the entire race before recording a 2nd place finish. Via his second place finish, Bub locked into Saturday night's main event in the 9th starting spot. In an event that was marred by tire issues for almost every driver, McCool would battle throughout the top ten for the entire event and was running 8th with only seven laps remaining when he had a tire go flat, which would relegate him to a 15th place finish.

“It was disappointing to not get the top ten finish because of the flat tire late in the race, but I was still excited with the weekend that our team put together,” commented McCool.

This weekend, April 23rd-24th, McCool Motorsports will return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Series in a pair of events on the East Coast on big fast, half mile tracks. The weekend will get underway on Friday night with a $10,000 to win event at Bedford Speedway in Bedford Pennsylvania before moving to the legendary Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, Maryland on Saturday night for the 29th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic, which pays $10,000 to win.
