COMP Cams Memphis Nationals Resurrected At Riverside Speedway

Memphis, Tennessee (03/31/10) – For more than four years the COMP Cams Memphis Nationals generated great racing and great excitement at the ¼ mile oval at Memphis Motorsports Park. However, when the facility was decommissioned in 2007, the event went into hibernation.

With the 2010 season now upon us and many exciting announcements coming down the pike, it has been announced that Memphis, Tennessee based COMP Cams, has brought the COMP Cams Memphis Nationals back from the dead, and the event will be held on Saturday, September 18th at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. The racing docket for that night will include the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model finale, the COMP Cams Memphis Street Stock Championship, and the Open Wheel Modified division battling for a special purse.

The COMP Cams Memphis Nationals will serve as the culmination of the three race COMP Cams Memphis Street Stock Championship Presented By MidSouthRacing.com mini series, which will boast a $1,500 winner’s share and $100 just to start the 20 lap main event. Two qualifiers, which are being tabbed as the “Road To The Nationals” qualifiers will be held leading up to the event, and each will be highlighted by a $500 top prize for the Street Stock division. In addition, the winner of each event is guaranteed a provisional starting spot in the grand finale on September 18th. The first Road To The Nationals qualifier will be held on Saturday, April 10th in conjunction with the COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model special at Riverside International Speedway. The second Road To The Nationals qualifier will be held on Saturday, June 19th in conjunction with a Weekly Racing Series Event. More information on the COMP Cams Memphis Street Stock Nationals will be coming in the near future, and anyone who would like to sponsor the event should contact Ben Shelton at 901-335-3037.

The COMP Cams MSRA Super Late Model tour will be a part of the program as they wrap their season up in the 4th Annual Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service MidSouth Dirt Track Championship. A $3,000 to win/$400 to start, 40 lap program will round out the night’s festivities.

The Open Wheel Modified division will be the third class in action in the COMP Cams Memphis Nationals, and details are steal being finalized for format and payout and will be released in the coming weeks.
