Ponderosa Speedway Practice on March 20 Cancelled; Friday March 26 Test-N-Tune Up NextJunction City, KY-March 18, 2010- As announced about two weeks ago, but track officials at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY have cancelled the practice that was scheduled for Saturday afternoon March 20 at the 3/8 mile D-shaped clay oval located on the Boyle/Lincoln County border. This was done to allow the grounds to dry somewhat and for the settling of the new clay that was recently added to the track.
However, there will be an open practice/test and tune session at the track better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday evening March 26 from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with gates opening at 4:00 p.m. for the Friday evening practice session.
The practice time could prove to be very vital for racers to test the new clay that was recently added in preparation for the upcoming season opening weekend of events on Friday April 2 and Saturday April 3.
Also, a reminder to the racers in the D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman division, be sure to note the change on the schedule, as the Sportsman division will not be in action now on Friday May 28, but will be in competition now on Friday June 25.
Ponderosa Speedway will also be acquiring a new scoreboard that will probably be placed outside of turn two that will show lap times, lap count, and top five positions on its display, with this new item in place by sometime in the month on May.
Following the test and tune/practice session on Friday March 26, the 2010 racing season will officially kick off on Friday April 2 and Saturday April 3. The Friday April 2 event will be the 8th Annual Spring 30, paying $1,500 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models and $1,500 to win for the Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, sanctioned by the American Modified Series presented by Force for Fuel, along with the Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Model division racing for $800 to win. The weekend will conclude on Saturday April 3 as the track presents the 3rd Annual Chris Estes/Brad Pena Memorial event, paying $3.000 to win for Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, $1,000 to win for Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and $500 to win for D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane, just outside of Junction City, KY directly on the Boyle/Lincoln County border. Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz are the track promoters and present dirt track sports entertainment on Friday evenings from April through early October.
