Chris Ferguson Prepares for Defense of Skyler Trull Trophy

Mount Holly, North Carolina – Chris Ferguson and his Starrette Trucking and Specialized Hauling team are busy making last minute preparations on their new Rocket Chassis before heading for this weekend’s 10th Annual Skyler Trull Memorial event at the Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina. Ferguson is the defending winner of the Carolina Clash sanctioned event. Ferguson is pumped up about getting back to racing. “We had a horrible day at Cherokee for the Lucas Oil race a couple of weeks ago. It was just one of those days you would like to erase. But we have had some extra time to go back through our new car and make sure it is where it needs to be. We scrambled to get the new car together and it showed in our performance at Cherokee. We have worked really hard to get ready for this week and I am ready to get on the track and see where we are.” Ferguson stated.

The 9th Edition of the Skyler Trull Memorial presented Ferguson with his first Carolina Clash series win in stirring fashion. “We cut a tire down running second to Jeff Smith. We had led earlier and I felt like we had a car good enough to get the lead back but that flat put us out on the tail. We went back to green flag racing and the car was just awesome. We were passing two cars a lap at first. I finally got back up to second and we caught a caution. I knew I had the car to beat but it was going to be tough to get by a veteran like Randle Chupp (who was then the race leader). But I just drove in deep into turn one and was able to come out with the lead. It was very exciting for my whole team. It was a huge win for us and it had so much sentimental meaning to my family and me.” Ferguson added.

Ferguson also had a successful appearance last week at “Red Clay Tuesday” at Buffalo Wild Wings located in Gastonia, North Carolina. “Red Clay Tuesday” is a radio show that airs on WGNC AM 1450 every Tuesday night from 6 PM until 7 PM and features drivers from around the region that compete at the Carolina and East Lincoln Speedways. Ferguson had his brand new number 22 Rocket Chassis machine on display alongside his Uncle, Doug Sanders’ Skyler Trull Memorial number 42. “It is always nice to come to events like this and get our sponsors some extra exposure. And I think it is very important to get out and connect with the race fans as much as possible. This is a great idea that the Carolina and East Lincoln folks have put together and I am proud that they asked us to be a part of this week’s program.” Ferguson said.
