Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway ready for 2010 season
03/10/10 at 5:42pm

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

AMB Scoring & UFo/ULMS/DIRTcar/FASTRAK/TSMA/UEMS/BRP Tour at PPMS in 2010!

(March 10, 2010) With the start of the 2010 season fast approaching, Miley Motor Sports have finalized several exciting programs for the 2010 season at Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway. Transponder scoring will be implemented at PPMS in 2010 and special event as well as weekly sanctioning has been determined.

PPMS has finalized the installation and purchased the equipment to do AMB electronic scoring in 2010. AMB scoring will also allow competitors to have access to a program to get all their lap times. This will require all teams to have a transponder mounted in a designated area on their car (see rule book) starting with opening day. As we did with Raceceivers, Miley Motor Sports and AMB have worked together to set up a lease to purchase program for competitors to take advantage of if they wish to do so. Teams also have the option to buy the transponder outright at a discounted price. Several competitors may already own one from racing at other tracks requiring AMB units. In that case the race team will just register their AMB unit with PPMS.

The purchase price for the rechargeable unit will be $428, which will include tax and shipping or the unit can be leased to buy for $58 an event, for 8 events making the total cost $464. Rentals will be available for the occasional competitor for $25 an event but money will not go towards purchase. The trophy classes only, will be able to do a lease to own plan for $29 an event for 16 events, making the cost $464. AMB Units should be available for purchase at Miley Truck Rental in Carnegie by Thursday March 11, 2010. Credit cards can be accepted only at Miley Truck Rental currently.

While having an initial cost, transponder scoring along with RACEceiver communication has proven to save money for all race teams over the course of the season. The two systems allow for quicker realignment of the races saving in gas and other mechanical costs on the cars, as well as better warning to the race teams to avoid on-track incidents.

UFo Race Championship and United Late Model Series Super Late Model challenge races will headline the 2010 special events. PPMS is the only track on the 2010 schedule to date where the two series face off. The "F-2 Shockwave" on May 15, "Red Miley Rumble" on July 24, "PENNational" on August 28 and "The Pittsburgher" on September 17-18 will be UFo vs. ULMS events. UFo has announced a year-end point fund of over $18,000 based on 15 completed events with no membership fees to the drivers.

Drivers in the Super Late Model, E-mod, Cadet, Hobby & Young Gun classes will once again be able to compete for DIRTcar regional and national points. Drivers in the E-mod class will also be able to earn TSMA points on the 7 open tire rule events at PPMS in 2010. As previously announced, FASTRAK will sanction the crate motor late model division in 2010. Drivers have the option to join these sanctions to be eligible for sanction points and year-end sanction point funds.

The BRP Mod Tour for Big Block Modifieds is scheduled to make their 2010 appearance at PPMS on Saturday, May 29 for Modisaurus-X2. The 410 Super Sprints will also return to PPMS on Saturday July 10 for an open competition championship. The United E-mod Series is scheduled to make 2 appearances at PPMS on May 29 and at "The Pittsburgher."

Open practice is scheduled for Saturday, March 27 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM with a rain date of Sunday, March 28. The 2010 season opener is set for Saturday April 3 featuring DIRTcar sanctioned Super Late Models, E-mods, Cadets, Hobby and Young Guns as well as FASTRAK Late Models. Each division has at least 2 special events on the 2010 schedule. The insane Figure-8's will return 4 times this year. Free admission nights for surrounding area counties and states highlight the exciting special promotions for 2010.
