Lee Cooper Set to Defend Fastrak SE Touring Championship TitleGreer, South Carolina – Three-time and defending Fastrak Southeast Touring Division Champion Lee Cooper has his sights set on an unprecedented fourth title in 2010. The Greer, South Carolina native is set to begin his quest in this weekend’s Fastrak sanctioned Modoc 100 at the Modoc Speedway in Modoc, South Carolina. The event will pay a hefty $10,000 to win. Cooper likes his chances headed in to the event. “We have worked real hard getting ready over the winter. We are building a brand new Barry Wright Race Car for this season. So we have really had to scramble to get it done in time for Modoc.” Cooper said.
Cooper, who won his titles in 2006, 2008 and 2009, is also looking to break back into the Fastrak winners’ circle. “It’s been almost two years since we won a Fastrak Touring event and I am ready to break that streak. This weekend would be a real good time to do that. We could put that purse money to good use. My race team is family funded so we really depend on our racing program to support itself. We have a little help from some sponsors but for the most part our budget comes out of my family’s pocket. And I am hungry to win one too. Fastrak has just become so competitive. It is really tough to win one of these races. You have to have everything together and not miss a lick.” Cooper added.
Cooper has been a long time race and supporter of the FASTRAK Racing Series, almost from the time the series’ inception. Cooper strongly believes that Fastrak has created a truly level playing foeld with the rules and system operation that FASTRAK has established, Cooper says “if you stop and think about it, other than FASTRAK, where else can you go and race knowing that you really have as much a chance of winning as anyone else there? With the exception of a flat or a spin or something like that, I feel like I have a shot to win at every race we go to and the cool thing is, so does everyone else. And we have a rules package that is enforced across the board no matter who you are. That’s what makes Fastrak work and keeps it so successful.”
Lee Cooper and his LeCo Motorsports race team would like to thank all of their fans and sponsors. The 2010 sponsors include EnCompass Solutions, KELCAR Motorsports Media, Big A’s Custom Graphics, Wrisco Aluminum, TWM Racing Products, VP Racing Fuels, JRI Racing Shocks, Wiles Driveshafts and Simpson Race Products.
