Boyd's / Cleveland Over 50K In Prize Money March 12 and 13

Chattanooga, TN (3/1/10) The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series will swing back into action Friday and Saturday March 12th and 13th at two legendary venues in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area with over $50,000 in prize money up for grabs for the two-day weekend.

It's been 25 seasons since the Southern All-Stars Dirt Racing Series has raced at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. In 1984, B.J. Parker brought two events to the track, formerly known as Tennessee-Georgia Speedway.

Both events were won by Mississippi racing legend and Hall of Famer Jerry Inmon. Taking victories in Columbus, MS and Talladega, AL, Inmon would also go on to win the 1984 Southern All Stars Championship. That would be the last time the series would sanction an event in Chattanooga.

Instead for many years, race fans and competitors traveled up Interstate-75 to the Cleveland, TN Speedway for S.A.S. races. In 2010 that will change... Boyd’s and Cleveland are each slated to host back to back events in March and July giving racers two chances to take home a big race payday. Friday March 12th, Boyd’s Speedway will host a $4,000 to-win S.A.S. event prior to the annual SHAMROCK 60 race at Cleveland, while July 16th will see a second $4,000 to-WIN S.A.S. event slated in front of the Jean Johnson Memorial race at Cleveland Speedway on July 17th.

In addition to the $4,000 to win Southern All Stars Late Model event, Boyd’s Speedway will offer racing in Steel Head Late Models, A&B Hobby and Front Wheel Drive Divisions. For more information on Boyd’s Speedway visit their website at: www.BoydsSpeedway.com

Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee will then host the fifteenth Annual Shamrock 60 featuring a $10,000 to win main event on Saturday night March 13th.

Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR, making his first appearance at the 1/3 mile speed plant in over twelve years when he won the same race in 1996, captured his second Shamrock event last year, edging out hometown favorite Dale McDowell of nearby Chickamauga, GA and the rest of the forty-one entrants in thrilling fashion to claim the big check and trophy.

Many nationally known drivers and drivers from around the region are expected to once again converge on Cleveland Speedway for this very special event. Pricing and local division information can be found on the tracks’ website at www.ClevelandSpeedway.com
