FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE February 25, 2010
Laraway Motorsports set for Dog Hollow and Marion Center Championship chase in 2010
With the start of the 2010 racing season two (2) months away, we at Laraway Motorsports would like to take the opportunity to contact everyone with an announcement of our plans for the upcoming season and to also inform everyone as to what we have been doing during the 2009-2010 off season.
The off season of 2009-2010 has been anything but off for Laraway Motorsports. Within a week of running the last race of 2009, both cars were stripped and the process of preparing for the 2010 season was underway. The engines were delivered to Domhoff Automotive Machine in Harmony, PA, to begin preparing for the planned new engine program for 2010. Although both Sammy and Dane were very happy with the performance of their power plants, the team decided to focus on one aspect of the engines. The defined focus was to eliminate harmonics as much as possible within the engine to provide for a smoother performing engine. The team’s focus was not on horsepower or torque numbers; the focus was simply on identifying sources of vibrations within the engine that could be eliminated.
This project has involved input from a select group of individuals over the past six (6) months and in some cases has developed into sponsorship opportunities for the team. With assistance from the engineers at Dailey Engineering, Dart Manufacturing, Bryant Crankshafts, Diamond Pistons, Del West, Oliver Rods and CV Products, a complete new short block was developed for the 2010 racing season. Every part on the engine, from the air cleaner to the oil pan, was examined and discussed. Doug Domhoff, of Domhoff Automotive Machine, who was instrumental in executing the entire plan, will now undertake the task of assembling and dyno testing the new engines that Laraway Motorsports will be fielding in the 2010 racing season. Laraway Motorsports would like to thank Doug Domhoff and the representatives of each of the companies mentioned for having spent countless hours both on the phone and in person, not only answering questions and providing input, but also for the research they have performed on our behalf over the past six (6) months.
As for the cars, Sammy Stile will be piloting a 2010 Rocket chassis and Dane has elected to stay with the 2009 Rocket chassis that he felt performed well for him during the 2009 season. Both cars are the products of Mark Richards Racing Enterprises. The cars are currently in a state that will require the installation of the engines and the application of the decals, then they will hit the scales and go racing.
Sammy Stile has spent the off season continuing to work at and promote his river boat and barge repair business that is located on the Monongahela River. He also spends a lot of time with his wife Jenn, son Stephon and daughter Savanna. Dane’s focus over the off season has been dedicated to his studies as a freshman at Washington and Jefferson College. He completed the fall term and elected to take an additional course over the January break. He is currently enrolled in his spring term that will commence in May.
For the 2010 racing season, Laraway Motorsports will again be chasing the points at Dog Hollow Speedway and Marion Center Speedway with the goal of repeating our claim to the Coal Country Championship Series (formerly Force Late Model Challenge) victory. Laraway Motorsports teammates, Sammy Stile and Dane Laraway, will begin the season with a few test sessions that will focus on putting the newly prepared cars and the new engine program through their paces. On Friday April 23, 2010.
Laraway Motorsports will debut their mounts at Dog Hollow Speedway and continue to compete there every Friday night throughout the season. The team can also be found at Marion Center Speedway every Saturday night throughout the 2010 season as well. The Laraway Motorsports team will not be limited to competition at Dog Hollow and Marion Center. Sammy and Dane can be found at most of the regional Sunday night races, and in the event of poor weather the two of them can be found at any dry track throughout the region. Laraway Motorsports would like to take this opportunity to thank the management of Dog Hollow Speedway and Marion Center Speedway for working together and presenting the Coal Country Championship Series again this year.
All of us at Laraway Motorsports appreciate the interest and commitment that our sponsors have expressed throughout the years. We are looking forward to the 2010 racing season and continuing our existing and newly developed relationships. We are aware of how fortunate we are as a team to have so many committed relationships, especially in the economic times that we are currently experiencing.
Once again, Laraway Motorsports would like to thank all of the individuals and companies that are involved with our program for their support.
