Matt Long Racing Prepares for New Season – Debuts GazZu Orange SchemeConcord, North Carolina – Matt Long and his GazZu Energy Drink Race Team are eager to get the 2010 season underway and put 2009 behind them. “2009 was a real struggle at the beginning of the year. We just couldn’t get a handle on our new Rocket Chassis. But this team never gave up and towards the end of 2009 we got the season turned around and headed in the right direction.” Long said. Long wound up the year finishing in the top five in final NDRA Touring Series and the three race NDRA Championship point standings. Long also garnered 15th position in the 2009 Fastrak Racing Series National Championship standings. Long’s finish could have easily been another top five had he not suffered a drive-train failure in the Nationals Event at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tennessee.
Long’s 2010 schedule is still being finalized however the team is committed to run the entire NDRA Heintz Performance Road Show schedule while competing for the NDRA Weekly Championship. “The NDRA schedule makes the most sense for us and it really allows us to better target our sponsor’s core customer region. We will still run several of the Fastrak Racing Series Southeast Touring events and some of their bigger money shows. They have a $10,000 to win event scheduled at West Virginia Motor Speedway up in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. That is very close to my Cambridge, Ohio hometown so that will be an opportunity for some of my friends in that area to get to see me race.” Long added. Another event that Long has his eye on is the inaugural GazZu 50 at I-77 Speedway in Chester, South Carolina. The $3000 to win will be held on April 10 as a part of the Pete Mosley Memorial. “We are very excited to be able to participate in this event. GazZu has been a great partner to us. We are all for anything that promotes the brand to new consumers.” Long exclaimed. Look for more details to come about the GazZu 50.
Matt and his team are also very excited about changing over to the GazZu Orange sponsorship and the new color scheme that brings for 2010. GazZu is back with us in 2010 and they wanted to change things up a little and highlight the orange flavor this year. We are stoked about the new design that Jimmy Schiltz at Dirtwrap put together for us. It is really a very sharp looking scheme. The basic design is not dramatically different but the addition of the orange just really sets the whole car off.” Long said. Matt and his team will once again be providing GazZu product sampling at the events they attend. “The sampling has been a huge success. Our pit area is a popular place when we put out those samples. And we have introduced the GazZu brand to so many new consumers. It has just been a really neat program. We are proud to be representing GazZu Orange and the entire line of GazZu Energy Drinks which of course are only available at Circle K.”
