Brian Shirley Records First Win of 2015 Season at Kankakee County Speedway

HARRISBURG, ILL (August 20) - Brian Shirley and his #3s team picked up their first checkered flag of the 2015 racing season on Friday night, August 14 at Kankakee County Speedway in Kankakee, Illinois! After timing in fifth quickest in American Late Model Series (ALMS) qualifying, Brian ran second in his heat race to earn the third starting spot in the 40-lap 'Land of Lincoln 40.' The Chatham, Illinois ace then took the point shortly before the halfway mark and drove to the $3,000 triumph over Ryan Unzicker, Jimmy Mars, Mike Spatola, and Jay Morris!

On Saturday evening, August 15, the ALMS tour presided over the '#FALS Fan Frenzy' at Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois and a $10,000 top prize was up for grabs. Brian clicked off the second fastest lap during time trials and later placed third in heat race action. After rolling off from the outside of the fourth row in the 50-lapper, Brian blasted towards the front and led eleven laps midway through the race before his right rear tire started to deflate. At the checkers, he found himself seventh in the final finishing order of the '#FALS Fan Frenzy' special. Full results from both weekend races can be accessed online at www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

While Brian is scheduled to take the upcoming August 21-22 weekend off from racing action, teammate Jason Riggs will return to competition this Saturday night at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky. A weekly Super Late Model program will be held in two days' time at KLMS and a $1,000 payday will be on the line.
