Chris Ferguson Scores 7th Win of 2015 in Stick Elliott – Readies for North-South 100

MT. HOLLY, North Carolina (August 5) – Chris Ferguson and his CFM Racing Team are enjoying their best season since moving to the Super Late Model division. Ferguson scored his second victory in the Stick Elliott Memorial at Cherokee Speedway on Saturday night. The victory was also his first Southern All Stars (SAS) Dirt Racing Series victory. The SAS win made the 4th different touring series that he has won with in 2015. Ferguson has previous victories with the World of Outlaw Late Models (2) , the Carolina Clash (2) and the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series (2). “We have just had an incredible year so far. We started out the season with some hurdles but we have been able to turn it around and now we are having the best season we have ever had. I can’t describe how proud I am of this small team and what we have accomplished together.” Ferguson said of his 2015 season.

Ferguson dominated Cherokee Speedway’s 30th Annual Stick Elliott Memorial by setting fast time and then leading all 50 laps for the $5000 payday. The event was sanctioned by the Southern All Stars this season. The win was Ferguson’s first in the series’ 32 years making him their 166th different winner. “It was an honor to win Stick’s race again. He was a fan favorite around our area and there is a lot of history tied to this race. It is also awesome to get our first win with the Southern All Stars. They have been around for a very long time and we are proud to be able to put our name into their record books. Our entire team is so grateful for all of the success we are having this year. It is a blessing. I cannot say enough about my dad Bryan and my brother Brandon and all the guys that work so hard on our car. We couldn’t do any of this without our great sponsors that get us to the track every week. And man what a race car and engine. Longhorn Chassis and Clements are so good to us.” said Ferguson.

And now riding that wave of success, Ferguson and his team will take on one of the biggest challenges of his career. They will head for Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky this weekend to take on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series in the North-South 100. The event features a unique format that includes no time trials but instead utilizes a series of heat races and passing points to determine starting position for the $50,000 to win feature event on Saturday. “This race definitely will feature the best of the best. The $50,000 prize plus the prestige associated with the North-South draws some of the best racers in the sport. We made the Dream at Eldora this year against many of the same guys but we have some experience there. We have never been to Florence before. So that will offer a challenge plus the format is a little different. But I believe we can do well. I have a lot of confidence in our team and our equipment. And as long as I do my job, I believe we can compete against anyone in the sport.” Ferguson added.
