Title: Jimmy Mars Heads into USA Nationals on Heels of Podium Showing Post by LMR on 07/30/15 at 2:47pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 30, 2015 _______________________________________ Jimmy Mars Heads into USA Nationals on Heels of Podium Showing at Shawano MENOMONIE, WISC (July 30) - The Mars Racing team ventured south to the Land of Lincoln to compete in a pair of World of Outlaws Late Model Series specials from July 23-25 at Quincy Raceway in Quincy, Illinois and Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois. On Thursday evening at Quincy, Jimmy Mars ran fifth in his loaded heat race prior to scoring the victory in his B-Main. After rolling off from the outside of the ninth row in the $8,000 to win 'Workforce 40' headliner, Jimmy was able to move past three competitors during the 40-lapper on his way to a fifteenth place showing. At Fairbury over the weekend, the 26th edition of the 'Prairie Dirt Classic' was held and a whopping $26,000 top prize awaited the winner. Jimmy clicked off the eighth fastest lap in Group B during qualifying on Friday night and later finished fifth in his stacked heat race. Following another fifth place effort in Saturday's consolation event, the Menomonie, Wisconsin star was forced to watch the thrilling 100-lap PDC, which was eventually won by Jonathan Davenport. With no rest for the weary, the #28 team followed the World of Outlaws Late Model Series to Shawano Speedway in Shawano, Wisconsin on Tuesday, July 28 for a $10,000 to win tilt. Jimmy knocked down the second quickest lap overall during WOOLMS qualifying and later secured a win in his loaded heat race. After drawing the sixth starting spot before the drop of the green flag in the 50-lap feature, Jimmy vaulted all the way up to second in the first half of the race. However, a dust up with Earl Pearson, Jr. on a mid-race restart caused his MB Customs machine front end damage and the "Iceman" was forced to settle for a third place performance behind only victor Shane Clanton and runner-up Earl Pearson, Jr. Complete results from Quincy, Fairbury, and Shawano can be accessed online at www.woolms.com. Jimmy and Mars Racing will now focus their full attention on this weekend's 28th Annual 'USA Nationals' at the renowned Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. The World of Outlaws Late Model Series will once again preside over the crown jewel extravaganza, which will kick off tonight, July 30 with a $6,000 to win preliminary event. Qualifying and heat races for the 'USA Nationals' will then take place at CLS on Friday evening, July 31, while the consolation events and the 100-lap main event are slated for Saturday night, August 1. A gigantic $50,000 payday has been established and Jimmy will be gunning for his third 'USA Nationals' title.
