Ray Cook a Stellar Runner-Up in WOOLMS Stop at Smoky Mountain; USA 100 Ahead

BRASSTOWN, NC (May 14) - Ray Cook Racing returned to competition on Saturday evening, May 9 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee, as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series presided over a $10,000 to win throwdown at the Knoxville-area speedplant.

Ray Cook knocked down the fourth quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session and later scored the win in his loaded heat race. After redrawing the outside of the front row prior to the start of the 50-lap headliner, Ray ran second throughout the distance en route to an impressive runner-up showing behind only victor Scott Bloomquist. The #53 team will now turn their focus to the state-of-the-art Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia on Saturday night, May 16. The annual running of the 'USA 100' will be held on Saturday at VMS and Ray will unload a pair of Capital racecars. One will be used to battle for the $10,000 top prize in the Ultimate Super Late Model Series portion of the program, while his Crate Late Model will vie for the $3,000 winner's check in a Fastrak Racing Series shootout.
