Ricky Weiss Enjoys Strong Weekend at La Salle

by Ben Shelton
HEADINGLY, Manitoba, Canada (April 7) – Ricky Weiss enjoyed a great weekend in his Derrick’s Sandblasting #7 Rocket/Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model during the annual Fall Brawl at La Salle Speedway.

Friday night's program boosted a $5,000 top prize to competitors, which drew a field of thirty entries. Ricky qualified second in his group and went on to win his heat race, locking him into the pole position for the main event. During the course of the feature, Weiss battled at the front of the pack, leading the race during the early stages before settling into a sixth place finish in the final rundown.

Saturday evening saw thirty-two Super Late Models registering for battle, all chasing the $15,000 winner's check. Weiss posted the fastest lap in his group during time trials before once again claiming a heat race win. Ricky started second on the grid and assumed the point at the drop of the green flag on the 75-lap finale. Weiss led the first twenty-one circuits before slipping back to as far as fourth in the running order at times only to recover a solid third place finish behind race winner, Bobby Pierce, and Chris Simpson. Brian Shirley and Jared Landers rounded out the top five finishers.

“We didn’t really have any notes heading into La Salle, so to have such a strong weekend felt really good,” commented Weiss. “We were just a tick off in both features or we might’ve come away with a win or two. Either way I’m really happy with our performance.” He concluded by saying, “I want to thank all of my sponsors for their support, and I also want to thank Hamburg Designs for stepping up to help me with an awesome look this weekend.”
