Jimmy Mars Finishes Wild West Shootout on Strong Note; Releases Early Season Schedule

MENOMONIE, WISC (January 30) - Jimmy Mars and his #28 team recently opened up their version of the 2015 racing season from January 10-18 at USA Raceway in Tucson, Arizona. The 9th edition of the 'Wild West Shootout' was held in the desert and six Super Late Model specials were contested in the unsanctioned miniseries. Jimmy battled some bad luck early in the week on the track and some poor heat race draws, but was able to amass a pair of podium finishes and an additional Top Ten performance out west.

When the dust had settled in Tucson, Jimmy's best two efforts of the week came in the final two races in the 'Wild West Shootout.' On Saturday, January 17, the Menomonie, Wisconsin ace improved from ninth to third in his heat race and later placed third in the $3,000 to win headliner behind only winner Jimmy Owens and runner-up Stormy Scott. In Sunday's finale, which boasted a $10,000 payday, Jimmy won his heat race in preliminary action prior to moving up to second in the 50-lapper to earn a strong runner-up outing behind only victor Jimmy Owens. Following the 'Wild West Shootout,' Mars Racing had plans of heading south to Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida in February for the 'DIRTcar Nationals.' However, they scrapped those plans earlier this week in order to assure that all of their MB Customs Late Model and Modified customers were taken care of prior to the start of their respective seasons. With that in mind, Jimmy has targeted the World of Outlaws Late Model Series stop at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in Calvert City, Kentucky as his next scheduled event on Friday, March 20. Below are the races that the "Iceman" confirmed earlier this week:

March 20 | Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway, World of Outlaws | $10,000 to win
March 21 | Brownstown (IN) Speedway, Lucas Oil | $10,000 to win
March 27 | Farmer City (IL) Raceway, World of Outlaws | $6,000 to win
March 28 | Farmer City (IL) Raceway, World of Outlaws | $15,000 to win
April 3 | LaSalle (IL) Speedway, UMP | $2,000 to win
April 4 | LaSalle (IL) Speedway, Thaw Brawl | $20,000 to win
