Ricky Weiss continued his chase for the WISSOTA Blaine Brothers Challenge Series title on Thursday night at Electric City Speedway (Great Falls, Montana). Twenty competitors registered for the $2,000-to-win program as Ricky drew the fourth starting spot for his heat race. He charged to the heat race win, locking him into the fifth starting spot for the feature. In the main event Weiss overtook seventh-starting John Kaanta to score his second series victory in the last three events with Kaanta, Jake Redetzke, Kelly Hample, and Dave Smith rounding out the top five finishers. On Friday night the team traveled to Gallatin Speedway (Belgrade, Montana), which saw the winner's check increased to $3,000. Twenty-one entries were on hand for the event, and despite mechanical issues early in the night Ricky managed a fifth to third run in his heat race. Weiss drew the fourth starting spot for the finale, and raced around the top five for much of the event before crossing the finish line in fourth behind race winner, Chad Becker, John Kaanta, and Jake Redetzke. The weekend drew to a close on Saturday evening with a $3,000-to-win, Challenge Series event at Billings Motorsports Park (Billings, Montana). Twenty WISSOTA Super Late Models registered for battle as Ricky looked to carry his momentum to the 3/8 mile oval. He came from the fifth starting spot to win his heat race, earning him a spot in the redraw where he was the recipient of the fifth starting for the feature. Weiss ran third for much of the main event until the race's final caution waved with three laps to go. Ricky took control on the restart but was unable to hold off a hard-charging Jake Redetzke and settled for a second place finish at the checkered flag. John Kaanta, Dave Smith, and David McDonald rounded out the top five finishers. Weiss currently leads the latest Challenge Series standings by just 7 markers ahead of John Kaanta.
