Ray Cook Survives Smoky Mountain for Top Ten Finish; Dixie Next

BRASSTOWN, NC (June 26) - Ray Cook Racing headed to Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee on Saturday evening, June 21 for the inaugural visit to the track by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. The 'Lucas Oil Ole Smoky Moonshine Classic' drew a huge crowd to the Knoxville-area speedplant for the $10,000 to win special event.

Ray Cook fought engine issues all night long, but managed to finish eighth in his heat race and second in his B-Main to transfer into the 50-lap headliner. During the course of the attrition-filled race, Ray stayed out of trouble and picked up eleven positions while doing so en route to a respectable ninth place performance. The #53 team tested earlier this week and hopes to have those motor woes behind them as they travel to the historic Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, Georgia this Saturday night, June 28. An unsanctioned event will take place at the Atlanta-area venue and a $2,000 top prize will be on the line.
