NILMS INAUGUARAL SEASON BEGINS TO TAKE SHAPE, FIRST RADIO APPEARANCE SCHEDULED

UPLAND, IN (Nov. 25, 2013) – Race fans may see some snow flurries in the coming days, temperatures drop, preparation for the holidays set in, but still visions of dirt Late Models racing around in their heads.
There will be a flurry of another kind as well. The flurry of activity by the new Northern Indiana Late Model Series means continuing to shape its inaugural season.
After careful analysis of all options NILMS will operate as a sole entity and crate Late Model sanctioning body for 2014.
“The opportunities to align this way or that were endless,” NILMS president Phillip Worrick said. “Our decision came down to what ultimately is best for the race teams, fans and the NILMS team.”
Crate Late Model teams in Indiana and surrounding states can now begin to cement plans for the upcoming season following this announcement.
“We immediately put a post on our Facebook page soliciting interest and received more than 20 driver responses from three states in less than 48 hours,” Worrick said. “I think that tells all we need to know. Many race teams in this division do not want the corporate feel. They want a NILMS official at every race, to be treated fairly and race economically. NILMS can provide that.”
Rules and at least a partial schedule will be included soon on the NILMS Facebook page and upcoming Website. Series sponsors and other information also will be announced at a later date.
“The rules will fit what Crate Late Model racing is all about and has somewhat ventured away from,” Worrick said. “Tech for these cars will follow firm, fair and by the rules.”
This announcement also will aid in nailing down dates with promoters for 2014.
“We are using northern Indiana in the series name just because our entire board of directors has roots there and this concept began there,” Worrick said. “We’ve already been communicating with tracks from all over Indiana and surrounding states. It shouldn’t be too difficult to sell this concept to the teams, promoters and fans.”
Worrick takes to the internet air waves tonight. He will be a guest on In the Dirt Online Radio with Webb Dillard and Brian Gray. The show airs 7-9 p.m. EST at blogtalkradio.com/inthedirt.
