Rod and R.J. Conley Advance into Dirt Track World Championship at Portsmouth

WHEELERSBURG, OH (October 24) - The Conley Motorsports, Inc. teams invaded the nearby Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio on October 18-19 for the 33rd edition of the 'Dirt Track World Championship.' The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series once again presided over the $50,000 to win crown jewel event, which drew 79 competitors to the southern Ohio speedplant. On Friday night during preliminary action, R.J. Conley finished fourth in his heat race, Rod Conley ran eighth in his heat race, and Delmas Conley wound up tenth in his heat race after getting involved in a multi-car pileup.

When the stakes heightened on Saturday evening, R.J. and Rod both made their way into the 100-lap 'Dirt Track World Championship.' R.J., who ran third in his B-Main and later won the 'Jim Dunn Memorial' race for non-qualifiers, took the option to start at the back of the field and wound up eighteenth in the final rundown of the DTWC. Rod finished sixth in his B-Main, received a PRP track provisional, and advanced up to fifteenth in the extra-distance affair. Delmas, the patriarch of the racing Conley family, finished ninth in his B-Main and eleventh in the 'Jim Dunn Memorial,' which caused him to unfortunately miss out on the 'Dirt Track World Championship.' Complete results from Portsmouth can be accessed online at www.lucasdirt.com.

With R.J. scheduled to take the upcoming October 25-26 weekend off, only Delmas and Rod Conley are slated to be in Dirt Late Model competition. Delmas will head to the newly-reopened Atomic Speedway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday night for a $2,000 to win program. Rod, on the other hand, will venture to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Saturday evening for the annual running of the ‘Fall 50,’ which boasts a $5,000 top prize.
