Title: Resurgent Alex Ferree returns to Precise Late Model Pinnacle Post by LMR on 10/10/13 at 4:40pm Lernerville Speedway October 10, 2013 _______________________________________ Resurgent Alex Ferree returns to Precise Late Model Pinnacle Lernerville Speedway PR Sarver, PA (October 10, 2013) After a few years of mixed results, Alex Ferree returned to his dominant ways in the second half of the 2013 Fab Four Racing season. From his first win of the season on June 21 during the Mid-Season Championships, Ferree won five of the final eight Precise Racing Products DIRTcar Late Model features and rode that wave of success to his fourth career Late Model Track Championship. Ferree’s breakout campaign of 2007 included eight feature wins and his first of three consecutive Track Championships. Fast forward seven years to the end of the 2013 season and Alex stands among the All Time greats in the storied Late Model division with 24 career wins and four Track Championships. His 24 career wins is fifth all time in the division and he passed Hall of Famers Blackie Watt and Dave Hoffman, Bob Wearing Jr. and his father Ed on the All Time Wins list this year. His four Late Model titles put him in a class of drivers that includes Bob Wearing Sr., Dave Hoffman, Lynn Geisler, Ben Miley and John Flinner. Fittingly, three of Ferree’s wins came in the three biggest Friday Night shows of the season; the Mid-Season Championship that locked him into the 7th Annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com, the $2,500-to-win ULMS Late Model feature and the $1,700-to-win Dave Hoffman Memorial. John Garvin Jr. spent most of the season atop the Budweiser Point Standings, but after a strong start to the season, (that included a feature win on Friday, June 14), “The Recycler” never seemed to fully recover from a rough Firecracker 100 weekend. Defending Track Champion Jared Miley was in contention to repeat for most of the season with three feature wins, but surrendered his title chances to take a week’s vacation the next to last week of the season. Despite the week off, Miley finished the season third in Budweiser Points and now has 19 career Late Model wins; good for ninth all time tied with Dave Hoffman. All Time Modified feature winner Brian Swartzlander finished the season fourth in points but still hasn’t found a way to pull the Detman #111 Late Model into the familiar surroundings of Sheetz Victory Lane. Now a seasoned veteran on the division, Ken Schaltenbrand rounded out the top five in Budweiser Points. Two-Time and Defending Track Champion Dave Hess Jr. started the season with an Opening Night win and went on to score his first career World of Outlaws Late Model Series A-Main later in the summer, but only ran a handful of Fast Fridays with the Precise Late Models. Neither Mike Pegher Jr. nor the iconic #1 Cochran Late Model were strangers to Sheetz Victory Lane before the 2013 season started, but after 14 wins of his own and over 100 wins with Lynn Geisler at the helm, Pegher drove the Geisler-owned #1 Cochran Late Model to Sheetz Victory Lane for his first career Super Late Model win at the Action Track on Friday, June 7. Davey Johnson, Michael Norris and Russell King also scored Precise Late Model feature wins in 2013. King also won the $3,000-to-win Uncle Sam 30 presented by Turner’s Premium Iced Teas. The Precise Late Models will join the Peoples TWP Sprints and Diehl Auto Group DIRTcar Modifieds as headliners of the 5th Annual DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 24-25-26. The $3,000-to-win Late Model portion of the weekend will also be sanctioned by the ULMS Late Model Series. Previous Stampede Belt Buckle Winners are Matt Lux (2009), Jared Miley (2010), John Garvin Jr. (2011) and Dave Hess Jr. (April 2013). The Peoples TWP DIRTcar Sprints will headline the 5th Annual DIRTcar Round Up Steel City Stampede along with the Precise/ULMS Lates Models and Diehl/BRP Modifieds; each running for $3,000 to win. The RUSH Dirt Late Model Touring Series, Millerstown Pic-A-Part Sportsman/Stocks, UEMS/UMP Modifieds, 305 Sprints, 4-Cylinders and Mod Lites will also be in action all three nights on Thursday-Friday-Saturday, October 24-25-26 and Saturday Night will be capped with the third and final $1,000-to-win Enduro 100 of the 2013 season. |
