Looney wins Larry Phillips Memorial at Springfield Raceway

SPRINGFIELD, MO (September 14, 2013) – 2011 MARS champion Brad Looney of Republic, MO wins at Springfield Raceway for the Larry Phillips Memorial honoring 5-time NASCAR Weekly Racing Champion Larry Phillips.
Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, MO would get the most passing points from the heat races and sat on the pole for the 75 lap race. Jackson would lead early until Looney would get by him on lap 21. The lead would then switch between Looney and Terry Phillips of Springfield, MO over the next several laps before Looney would take control for good on lap 27. Looney’s car started to show signs of smoke on lap 52 as sparks were observed flying from the back of his car. Looney weathered cautions on laps 55, 57 and 58 and took the checkered flag just ahead of Jesse Stovall of Billings, MO.
Ryan Gustin of Marshalltown, IA; Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon, MO and Brandon McCormick of Lebanon, MO rounded out the top five.
