Title: Conley’s Rack Up Handful of Top Fives Over Weekend Post by LMR on 08/08/13 at 2:43pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 8, 2013 _______________________________________ Conley’s Rack Up Handful of Top Fives Over Weekend Including a Rod Conley Win WHEELERSBURG, OH (August 8) - The Conley Motorsports, Inc. teams racked up a handful of top five finishes over the August 2-3 weekend, including one victory by Rod Conley on Saturday at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio! Rod finished third in heat race action at PRP and later started the weekly feature event from the inside of the third row. "Hot Rod" then stormed to the front of the field to claim the $2,000 win, his third of the 2013 season, over Mike Wilson, Mark Frazier, Josh Bocook, and Delmas Conley. Delmas, the patriarch of the racing Conley family, finished fifth in the A-Main after running third in his heat race. R.J. Conley took his #71c to the 201 Speedway in Sitka, Kentucky on Saturday evening for the 'Hatfield / McCoy Feuding 50,' which boasted a $5,000 top prize. R.J. won his heat race in preliminary action, started fourth on the grid in the 50-lap main event, and led a huge chunk of the unsanctioned race. Unfortunately, the Wheelersburg, Ohio ace jumped the cushion on a couple of different occasions and eventually earned a third place performance behind only victor Eddie Carrier, Jr. and runner-up Josh McGuire. On Friday night, both Rod and Delmas started their weekend at the nearby Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio, as the 3rd Annual 'Hall of Fame Classic' took place. Delmas qualified well, ran second in the dash, and later posted a strong runner-up effort in the $3,000 to win main event behind only race winner Josh McGuire. Rod was not far behind, as he won his heat race prior to advancing up to third in the final rundown of the 30-lapper. Complete results from all three venues can be viewed online at www.southernohiospeedway.com, www.portsraceway.com, and www.201speedway.net. With Delmas and Rod Conley both slated to take the upcoming August 9-10 weekend off from racing action, R.J. Conley is scheduled to travel alone to the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky for the 31st Annual ‘North/South 100.’ On Friday night, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series time trials and a fast dash will be held at the 1/2-mile facility, while action will really heat up on Saturday evening with heat races, consolation events, and the 100-lap main event. The victor of the ‘North/South 100’ will receive a hefty $50,000 paycheck, while the crown jewel event will pay $2,500 just to start the race.
