Lucas Oil Late Models close out season in Georgia... The 2012 season for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has produced another exciting year of racing as the season winds down to the final events of the year in October. The series will again visit two tracks that have been on the schedule every year since the series was formed in 2005. This weekend's events will take place on Saturday Night, October 6th for the "Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout" in Woodstock, GA and Sunday Night, October 7th for the "Rome Rumble" at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN is looking to wrap-up his second straight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship this weekend in the state of GA. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN who leads the series with eleven victories will join Owens in action along with 2-time series champion and 6-time Dixie Shootout winner, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN

6th Annual Gumbo Nationals this weekend… It’s time to set the gumbo on fire as the 6th Annual Gumbo Nationals will come to life at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on October 4-6, 2012. Anticipation is at an all-time high for this event as this weekend the track could arguably see one of the most talented, Super Late Model fields ever assembled at the 1/4 mile oval.  This year's edition of the event will feature the richest Super Late Model payout ever at the facility, with a total purse boasting over $33,000 for the Super Late Model division alone with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioning the event for the first time ever. Super Late Model pilots will compete in a $7,500-to-win/$700-to-start, 75 lap event.  In addition to the added money in the Super Late Model feature, a last chance qualifier for the division will be held, which will give drivers a chance to win additional money.

Championships determined at Eldora... Late Models and Modifieds will be in competition (October 5 & 6) at Eldora Speedway and the UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) National Championships will see four 2012 point chases coming to a close. After the checkered flag falls on 40-laps of Late Model racing Saturday night, title holders for Eldora Speedway and the UMP National Standings will have been determined. Matt Miller leads the Late Model standings into the two-day Nationals Championship, with a slim six-point margin over Jeep VanWormer. Canadian Andrew Reaume looms in third, fourteen points out of the lead, and could possibly be the first ‘North of the Border’ champion at Eldora with a strong Nationals run. The pursuit for the UMP DIRTcar National title showcases two-car battle with Illinois drivers Brian Shirley and Kevin Weaver are waging a dogfight for the Championship.

Tennessee Tripleheader for Limited Late Models… A big tripleheader of racing is set to take place this weekend in east Tennessee as limited late model and modified street drivers will have three chances at $2,000 to win. The 2nd annual Fall Brawl takes place October 5-7 at three different venues with big money on the line for Limited Late Models. Action kicks off Friday night, October 5 at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee. All taking place atop the famed Thunderbird Speedway in Muskogee, Oklahoma on October 4-6. Ponderosa Speedway’s 22nd Annual Fall Classic will take place on Saturday evening October 6 and will see the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Late Models race 50 laps for $5,000 to win.
