Ray Cook Earns Top Ten in North/South 100; Set to Travel to Toccoa

BRASSTOWN, NC (August 16) - D&R Motorsports invaded the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on August 10-11 for the 30th edition of the 'North/South 100.'  In Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series qualifying on Friday night, Ray Cook started his weekend by posting the ninth fastest lap in Group A, which gave him the pole position for his heat race on Saturday.  The Brasstown, North Carolina native then came out on top of his loaded heat race to earn the inside third row starting spot for the $50,000 to win crown jewel event.

In front of a standing room only crowd, Ray was a fixture inside of the top ten throughout the 100-lap distance.  With passing at a premium, especially during the second half of the event, Ray rode in line and wound up ninth in the final rundown of the 'North/South 100.'  Full results from Florence can be viewed by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.

Next up for the #53 team will be a rare trip to the Toccoa Speedway in Toccoa, Georgia this Saturday, August 18.  The Ultimate Super Late Model Series will preside over the inaugural ‘Buck Simmons Tribute’ race and a $4,100 top prize will be on the line.  The A-Main will be 41 laps in length in recognition of the car number that the late Buck Simmons used to campaign through his 30 year driving career.  Additional information about the special event at Toccoa can be obtained by accessing www.ultimatesupers.com.
