Josh McGuire Nabs Sixth Win of the Year in Exciting Fashion at PRP

GRAYSON, KY (July 19) - The Josh McGuire Racing (JMR) team racked up their sixth feature win of the 2012 campaign on Sunday, July 15 at the Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, Ohio!  Josh McGuire laid down the fourth fastest lap during the qualifying session at PRP and later finished second in the dash to R.J. Conley.  The Grayson, Kentucky ace then ran second to Conley's #71c entry throughout the entire main event until the last lap.  R.J. suffered a flat Hoosier tire and Josh was able to capitalize on his misfortune to lead the final circuit to claim the exciting $2,000 victory!

Earlier in the weekend, Josh competed in the 2nd Annual 'GCP Engines Southern Showdown' on Friday at the Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio.  Josh won his heat race in preliminary action and was running third late in the $3,000 to win feature event before suffering his own flat tire on the final lap.  The troubles dropped "Bad Fast" to a disappointing sixth place finish in the unsanctioned 30-lapper.  On Saturday, the #41 team was rained-out at the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky, as the $7,500 to win 'Butterball Wooldridge Memorial' was postponed until July 21.  Complete results from both Southern Ohio and Portsmouth can be viewed online at www.southernohiospeedway.com and www.portsraceway.com.

“I only got to lead one lap at Portsmouth on Sunday, but it was the most important one,” exclaimed McGuire.  “I don’t think I have ever won a race like that before, but we’ll sure take it.  We had one go flat on us on Friday night at Southern Ohio, so maybe we had a little luck due to come our way.  Our car is performing pretty well right now and I am really looking forward to racing at Skyline and Richmond this weekend!”

The #41 JMR team will look for added success over the July 20-21 weekend with a pair of high-profile races at the Skyline Speedway in Stewart, Ohio and the Richmond Raceway in Richmond, Kentucky.  The annual ‘Jack Shutts Memorial’ will take place on Friday night at Skyline and a $3,000 top prize will be on the line.  Then on Saturday, the dirt-slinging action will turn to Richmond for the rain-postponed ‘Butterball Wooldridge Memorial,’ which boasts a hefty $7,500 winner’s check.  Josh is the defending race winner of both of these events!  Additional information can be obtained by clicking on www.skylinespeedway.net and www.richmond-raceway.net.
