Title: Stunt Woman Kathy Jarvis Tackles 2012 Summer Nationals Post by LMR on 06/13/12 at 2:07pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 13, 2012 ______________________________________ Professional Stunt Woman Kathy Jarvis To Embark On The 2012 UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour by Matt Prieur Park City, Utah (Wednesday, June 13th, 2012): The UMP Summer Nationals HELL Tour for UMP Super Late Models is a marathon 29 races in 32 days series. Widely considered the most grueling touring series in ALL of Motorsports, the tour will cover eight different states including Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Wisconsin covering 5,123 miles. For Park City, Utah driver, Kathy Jarvis, a Professional Stunt Woman by trade, she’s ready for all the tour has to offer as the 2011 I-96 Speedway Rookie of the Year will join some of the top stars in the Dirt Late Models world for the grueling tour starting on Wednesday, June 13th at Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana behind the wheel of her #OM C.J. Rayburn Racecars entry. “I am joining the Hell Tour to become a driver and to learn from the best drivers out there. Since I just found out about dirt oval racing last year, I feel I am short on time to learn how to be competitive in a Super Dirt Late Model racecar and if I put off going to Summer Nationals until I am better, know more, have more money it probably won't happen. "Carpi diem" seize the day and head to hell.” She stated. This will most likely be the hardest thing I have ever done next to recovering from a surgery to remove a tumor in my head.” Jarvis remarked as she makes final preparations for the 2012 version of the tour. “The surgery was botched leaving the tumor intact and causing a brain aneurysm. But I have learned from that experience and from taking years to recover that the only way to recover is to take risk and open to new things to new ideas and to follow dreams.” She added. Jarvis’ career as a Stuntwoman began in 1994 and is still going strong. Some of the women she has doubled for in the film industry includes; Kate Hudson, Hilary Swank, Meryl Streep, Meg Ryan, Anne Heche, Eva Amuri, and Jessica Lange just to name a few. Jarvis’ circle track career began at the end of the 2010 racing season. Prior to that, she was a Rally Car competitor in the Rally America Series. “I picked up rally to see if I could get some of my cognitive skills back and recover fully from the surgery, extending the longevity of my stunt career.” She explained. “I really just wanted to see if I could focus, drive and apply all my senses, because of course in rally the co-driver is calling out the course while the driver is driving all out. I won my second rally in class allowing me to go to the national level and I finished second in the nation in class that year.” Jarvis then continued. “I am now following my dream to become a national racecar driver in the fastest class out there and I hope to inspire people along the way to do whatever it is they dream.” For the 2012 UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour, she has joined forces with 2010 UMP DIRTcar Racing Series Late Model National Champion, Rusty Schlenk and while Jarvis will enter all 29 events, Schlenk will join her in as many events as his own schedule allows. “I am so thankful to have teamed up with Rusty Schlenk; he was the fastest man in a C.J. Rayburn Racecar, before his Laser Chassis. He has agreed to help me to and through this journey by hitting as many of the hell tour races with me as he financially can to help a novice racer live her dream.” The appreciative driver added. I cannot thank Rusty enough for welcoming me in, not only to his team but his home.” “Our teaming up is very new and in the short amount of time I have been racing out of Rusty's shop he has taken my swing arm to a four-bar.” She explained in regards to some of the changes made to her machine. “I wish I found him earlier because this last week being in a 4-bar it felt like I am starting from scratch with some bad habits. But the car was awesome at Oakshade this past weekend, because of RSR. This is a team sport and it is great to finally be a part of a winning team and better to be on the path to success then drive in a circle with no direction.” She stated. Throughout the 2012 UMP Summer Nationals Hell Tour, a documentary film crew from Corser Inc., Productions will be following Jarvis and the entire team, doing a story on dirt track racing, taking risk to live a dream and the journey into hell and hopefully back. The film appropriately is titled ‘Sideways’. “I am sure there will be more ways than on the track that our team will feel sideways.” She laughed. If you would like to see a clip on Corser Inc., Productions and help with our efforts, please go to: indiegogo.com/kathyjarvis “I hope this journey is worth all the risk, financial, emotional, spiritual, relationship and that I and our team represent how amazing this sport we love is and how it brings not only people from different worlds together but it creates amazing communities. We also hope to bring it to a broader audience and help inspire people to get out and experience new things, and take risks to expand their horizons. For the entire Hell Tour, Jarvis’ #OM car, widely known as #30 to race fans, will carry sponsorship support on the side of her C.J. Rayburn Racecars chassis from; ASEA teamasea.com, as well as Andy Stebbins Motorsports, Allstar Performance, Lane Automotive, Micro Armor, Twist-ems, Rella Group, M.P.H. Promotions, and Femme Fetale Motorsports. “The tower calls it #30 for scoring purposes, but really it is the most ancient symbol known and the symbol brings a vortex of positive energy wherever it is and it is the sound my car makes going around the tracks.” She ended.
