Beebe and Riverside Up Next for Comp Cams Super Dirt Series

by Ben Shelton
Beebe, Arkansas (04/18/12) – This weekend, April 20th-21st, the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models will invade Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) and Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) for a pair of events.

Last weekend the tour rumbled through Arkansas, and it was a tale of two careers as the veteran, Billy Moyer, claimed the convincing win on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas), while Saturday night saw Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year candidate, Robert Baker, score the win at Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas).

With Saturday night’s win, Baker has taken over the point’s lead for the tour. He is closely followed by Jon Mitchell, Brandon Smith, Johnny Virden, Kyle Beard, Larry Campbell, Clay Fisher, Jon Kirby, Curtis Cook, and Chandler Petty.

Not only does Baker lead the overall standings, but he also leads the current Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings with Larry Campbell, Chandler Petty, and Travis Ashley in pursuit.

Drivers will be looking to make up ground in the standings this weekend as the tour invades a pair of bullrings and faces some tough regional and local competition. On Friday night, April 20th a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start event will be held at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas). This Friday night’s event will mark the first of three stops for the tour at the ¼ mile oval. In 2011 Allen Murray and Jon Kirby each scored wins at the facility, while the final scheduled event fell victim to Mother Nature. Also in action on the program will be Open Wheel Modifieds, Hobby Stocks, Factory Stocks, and Mini Stocks. General admission is $15 for adults with seniors $10, and children (ages 10-5) $5, and ages 4 and under free. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 4pm with racing action at 8pm. For more information on the facility, please visit www.BeebeSpeedway.com.

On Saturday night, April 21st the tour will make its first of two appearances at Riverside International Speedway with the Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service Spring Fling at the legendary oval. The 2011 season saw Austin Rettig claim the win in the spring race by a matter of inches over Billy Moyer Jr., while Wendell Wallace dominated the fall race. Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds, and 600cc Mini Sprints will also be on the card. Adult grandstand admission is $20 with ages 6-11 $5 and children 5 years of age and under free. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 5pm with hot laps slated for 6:45pm, and racing action at 7:30pm. For more information on the event, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com .
