Title: Goodlad ready to tackle R2C Pro Dirt Series in Western Australia Post by LMR on 11/18/11 at 2:53pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE November 17, 2011 ________________________________________ Goodlad ready to tackle the 2011-2012 R2C Pro Dirt Late Model Series in Western Australia Perth W.A. - After a long winter that saw the Daytona Racing Rocket receive a complete going over and a new engine, the team and Mat Goodlad was ready to tackle the 2011-2012 R2C Pro Dirt Late Model Series in Western Australia. Although Mat hasn't stood on the podium yet in the three rounds contested, he has been consistent recording two top fives and a sixth, which leaves him third in the championship. "Our results have been fairly good so far but we struggled for pace in the opening couple of rounds, so at the last round down at the Perth Motorplex we completely changed the set up, back to something we know, and that made a huge difference" explained Mat. During the last round Mat was lucky to avoid serious damage, when two other competitors came together towards the front of the 20 car field and caused an eight car pileup. At the time it didn't look like much and he continued with that race, finishing 5th. Back in the pits the team got to inspecting the damage and found a bent left front shock, broken top arm and damage to the spindle. They repaired this damage and Mat made his way out for the final race of the night, where he would finish on the rear deck of Brad Ludlow in 4th. "The track was rough as guts but the car finally felt great, I feel were on the verge of having some awesome speed. Thanks must go to Brent from Racin Tyres and Accessories who organised our Genesis shock package, which is one of the best around, now we just need to get it to a slick track" said an upbeat Goodlad. This coming weekend will see the team travel the 1,100km round trip to Kalgoorlie for the Western Australian Title, where they will take on some of the best drivers in the state. Talking to Mat earlier this week, this is what he had to say about the upcoming title, "with every title it is just as important to have luck along with good management, as once the cars roll onto the track and we get racing, logic can go out the window as everyone wants to win". "I definitely see us finishing in the top five, it would be great to come home with the trophy but these guys are tough to race against, there are a few drivers in this field that you could almost class as full time racers". The team feel they have left no stone unturned in their quest to claim a maiden title victory this weekend, so now all they need is luck. Mat Goodlad and the Daytona Racing team would like to say thank-you to their loyal sponsors: Old Man's Garage, Diversified Contracting, JRH Signs, Valvoline, SWB Photography, Duralite Alloy Boat Trailers.
