Title: John Garvin Jr. Captures 'Steel City Stampede' for First Lernerville Post by LMR on 10/25/11 at 1:42pm FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE October 25, 2011 ________________________________________ John Garvin Jr. Captures 'Steel City Stampede' for First Lernerville Win Sarver, PA - 2010 O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series Rookie of the Year John Garvin Jr. and Copperhead Racing's 2011 season is starting to come to an end and what better time is for Garvin to pick up his first career victory at Lernerville Speedway in his hometown of Sarver, PA. Garvin, also known as 'Copperhead', went into the weekend with seven top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes, most of which have come in later half of the season. Strong finishes recently at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, OH, Imperial, PA's Pittsburgh's PA Motor Speedway, and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex in Markleysburg, PA have built confidence in Garvin and his team as they were able to breakthrough for the $3,000 win at Lernerville Speedway's season ending, 'Steel City Stampede'. 'We've had to work really hard to get back into victory lane,' Garvin said after being held winless since September, 11 of 2010. 'It's been over a year since we've won, and for as much as we feel we have improved and grown as a team over the past year, it's relieving to finally get back into the win column.' 'Copperhead' added a bit of a twist to his schedule at the 'Steel City Stampede' as he debuted a Crate Late Model for the first time. John and his Garvin Scrap Metal, Graff Trucking, Sarver Landscape and Garden Supply, JNJ Motorsports Media, Chub Frank Racing sponsored Rocket Chassis crate car was battling for the lead position with Crate regular Butch Lambert when the two got together sending Garvin into the fence ending his bid for a 'Steel City Sweep'. The crate car was really, really good,' quipped Garvin, 'if we had a chance to win one of the two races, I thought it would have been with the crate, it was really dialed in. It was just a racing deal; we'll get the car put back together to go down south later in the year.' 'I need to thank my mom and dad for all of their support and all of our sponsors for sticking with us through some rough times this season,' John continued. 'We didn't have the best of starts to the year but I think we turned the corner here towards the end of the season and hope to keep it going while we finish 2011 out and move into 2012.' John Garvin Jr. and his Copperhead Racing team will be in action this Saturday and Sunday at Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for the 24th Annual 'Octoberfest' that will pay $10,000 to the winner. Copperhead will then take a few weeks off before ending his season at Swainsboro Raceway in Swainsboro, GA for the $20,000 to win, Crate Late Model 'Turkey 100' on Thanksgiving weekend, November 24, 25, and 26.
