Scott James Heads to K-C Raceway for $50,000 DTWC

BRIGHT, Ind. - Scott James and the Riggs Motorsports team continued their 2011 journey on October 7-8 at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The annual running of the 'UMP Nationals' took place at the "Big E" over the weekend and a $5,000 top prize was on the line. Scott laid down the third quickest lap overall during the qualifying session on Friday night to get his weekend started off on a fast note.

When the action resumed at Eldora on Saturday evening, Scott advanced up to second in his heat race to earn the inside fourth row starting spot in the 40-lap main event. The Bright, Indiana native dropped back a few positions early in the 'UMP Nationals,' but then started his march back up through the field. Scott had caught leaders Jeep Van Wormer and Frank Heckenast, Jr. when a broken brake line unfortunately sent him into the wall. The driver known as the "Silver Shark" was forced to retire from the race and was relegated to a disappointing twenty-sixth place finish.

Next up for the #81 team will be the 31st Annual ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ on October 14-15 at the K-C Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio. The final event for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will boast a whopping $50,000 winners check. Qualifying and heat race action will take place at the 3/8-mile, south-central Ohio racetrack on Friday night, while the consolation races and the 100-lap main event will headline the weekend on Saturday evening.
