Kent Robinson Launches New Website; World 100 Next

by Ben Shelton
Bloomington, Indiana (09/07/11) – Kent Robinson is the latest addition to the MSRMafia.com Team and has launched a brand new website at www.KentRobinsonRacing.com .

Kent, who is 23 years old, pilots the #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model at events across the country. The 2011 season marks his first full year of Super Late Model competition after a successful stretch in the Open Wheel Modified division.

The Labor Day weekend was a busy team for Kent Robinson Racing, and the team made the trek to Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) on Friday night for the $5,000-to-win, Prairie Dirt Shootout to get things underway. The $5,000-to-win event drew a field of 36 Super Late Models, and in time trials, Robinson would record the 16th fastest time. With an invert in effect, he would start on the pole of his heat race but would slip to a seventh place finish, which relegated him to a b-main. In the b-main, Robinson would battle mechanical issues, which caused him to fall short of a transfer to the feature, bringing his night to an early end.

Despite the best efforts of track staff, rain was the winner in the $10,000-to-win, Prairie Dirt Classic at Fairbury American Legion Speedway (Fairbury, Illinois) on Saturday night. The race has been rescheduled for Sunday, September 18th.

With a threatening weather forecast in place for Sunday night's event at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), the team decided to remain in Illinois to enter the $5,000-to-win event at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois). Thirty-five cars were on hand for the UMP-sanctioned event, Robinson qualified ninth fastest in his group to earn the fifth starting spot for heat race action. In his heat he advanced to a third place finish to lock into the eleventh starting spot for the main event. Despite starting around mid-pack, he would quickly see his night come to an end with mechanical issues.

This weekend, September 9th-10th, the team will travel to the most prestigious Dirt Late Model event of the year as they enter the 41st Annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio). The event posts a $44,000 top prize, but even more desired is the "Globe Trophy" that only the sport's best have claimed at the famed, 1/2 mile oval. The event will get underway on Friday night with two separate rounds of qualifying to set the heat race grid. On Saturday night heat race action as well as b-mains and the 100 lap finale will be held. For more information, please visit www.EldoraSpeedway.com .
