Title: Chub Frank settles for Come-From-Behind 11th-Place Finish Post by LMR on 06/29/11 at 3:05am FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE June 28, 2011 ________________________________________ Come-From-Behind 11th-Place Finish In Lernerville Speedway’s Firecracker 100 Doesn’t Leave Chub Frank In A Good Mood BEAR LAKE, PA – June 28, 2011 – Chub Frank might have salvaged a decent finish in last Saturday night’s fifth annual Firecracker 100 presented by GottaRace.com at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., but he wasn’t in a good mood after the World of Outlaws Late Model Series event. An 11th-place performance after starting 25th thanks to a WoO LMS points provisional certainly wasn’t what the veteran driver known as ‘Chubzilla’ wanted from his weekend at the four-tenths-mile oval in his home state. “I’m not happy at all with how we ran,” said Bear Lake, Pa.’s Frank, who was the second driver one lap down at the checkered flag. “I don’t know what’s wrong with my car. I don’t know what the answer is. “We ran the new car we’ve been running (at Lernerville in three weekly-show appearances over the past two months)…it’s been good so I thought we’d have something (for the Firecracker), but then we went out for that heat race (on Saturday night) and it was so bad that I couldn’t do anything. I should’ve had traction, but it had nothing. It was just sitting on top of the racetrack.” Frank failed to make the cut through his heat (missed by three spots) and a B-Main (missed by two), so he had to rely on a provisional to get in the $30,000-to-win A-Main. He moved forward in the Firecracker 100, but not enough to satisfy him. “It was O.K. in the feature, but it still wasn’t as good as it needed to be,” said Frank. “A lot of it (advancing) was just knowing where to run on the racetrack.” The frustrating Firecracker 100 performance ended a tough weekend at Lernerville for Frank, who failed to seriously contend in either of the 30-lap WoO LMS preliminary A-Mains that led into the grand finale. He finished 18th in Thursday night’s event and ninth in Friday evening’s feature. Frank felt his Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1* might have been at its best on Thursday night, when he won a B-Main and appeared ready to crack the top 10 until a faulty crank-trigger caused his motor to shut off. He lost multiple positions before he was able to refire the powerplant – and then, after gaining many of the spots back, he fell back again when he was nudged off the racetrack due to a racing scrape with Steve Francis. Frank will attempt to get back on track this weekend with a holiday trip south to Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway, where the WoO LMS will contest the inaugural ‘Outlaw Sizzler 101’ on July 2-3. The Sunday-evening 101-lap A-Main will pay $20,000 to win at the high-banked, one-third-mile oval, where Frank finished fifth in last year’s 50-lap WoO LMA feature. Frank sits seventh in the WoO LMS points standings entering this weekend’s action. He trails leader Rick Eckert by 182 points but is only 64 markers behind third-place Darrell Lanigan.
